Wichita Hosts 82nd National Baseball Congress World Series
The 82nd annual National Baseball Congress World Series Begins on Frisay, July 29. The event, which runs through August 13, will bring more than 30 baseball teams from all over the country to downtown Wichita's Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
This year marks the first time in the Series' 82 year that 24 former Major League payers will play for one team. The Kansas Star Casino Sponsored team the Kansas Stars, highlights seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, who is one of 11 MLB All-Stars on the team.
Other MLB All-Stars include Tim Hudson (4), Ben Sheets (4), Roy Oswalt (3), Dan Uggla (3), Josh Beckett (3), Brad Penny (2), Jason Isringhausen (2), J.D. Drew (2), Jack Wilson (1) and Brandon Inge (1).
The Stars also feature several NBC Alumni. Among them are Clemens, Robertson, LaRoche, J.D. Drew, Dan Uggla, Jack Wilson, Koyie Hill and Ryan Kohlmeier.
The Kansas Stars are scheduled to play during Championship Week of the World Series, with pool play games scheduled for Saturday, August 6 at 9:30 p.m., Monday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 10, both at 7 p.m. A pool play schedule can be found here.
Tickets prices range from $7-$11, and are for a single day pass that grants admittance to all games played on the specified day. Tickets are available for purchase online.
