Thunder's Kerbashian Up For Wichita Pro Athlete of the Year Award
Wichita Thunder forward Kale Kerbashian has been nominated as a finalist for the 2016 Wichita Professional Athlete of the Year Award. This award is presented annually at the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet, which also features the Johnny Bench Award. This year’s ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 30th at Century II Exhibition Hall. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
Twenty-six year old Kerbashian came to the Thunder through a trade from the Rapid City Rush of January 4.
He has led the Thunder in scoring with 44 points (14g, 30a) and scored 34 points 11g, 23a) in 37 games in Wichita. Kerbashian was named as the team's MVP this past season, and tallied the game-winner in overtime against Idaho on February 20. Kerbashian joins Tim Brown of the Wichita Wingnuts and Clarence Anderson of the Wichita Force as the three finalists for the award.
The Thunder will kick off their 25th Anniversary season on Saturday, October 15 with a game against the Tulsa Oilers. Season tickets are currently on sale.
