Wichita Named Cheapest Drinking City in the US!
Wichita was just named "Cheapest drinking city in the U.S." in a study published by "the budget-conscious imbibers at Wanderu".
The study used a complex combination of average prices, number of cheap & quality bars, and population to determine where a city ranked. The full methodology can be found here.
"Wichita, Kansas (aka “Cowtown,” aka “The Air Capital of the World”) takes first place, providing the biggest city in The Sunflower State with a well-earned but probably not needed third nickname of “The Cheapest Drinking City in the United States.” Its wealth of high-quality drinking establishments at reasonable prices—for wine and cocktails and beer, oh my!—makes it perfectly poised to get the best punch for your pennies."
Wichita also tied for first as having the cheapest average cocktail price at $7. In contrast, a cocktail in New York will run you $16!
The most expensive city to drink in ended up being San Jose, California where a pint of beer will run you an average of $8.
