A $1.25 million dollar grant from NASA will allow Exploration to open a new permanent exhibit in December of 2017. The Aviation exhibit, Design Build Fly, will occupy 5,100 square feet at the museum, and will feature hands-on activities representative of different careers in the aviation field, including design, engineering, manufacturing and flight. The exhibit will offer activity stations for all ages and three exhibit icons, including a lab that is designed to represent real-world processes for aircraft design and manufacturing, a deconstructed, full-size plane, and a fuselage theater.
Exploration Place staff members are currently working with Roto, an award-winning company, to develop and produce the Design Build Fly exhibit, which will be the museum’s second completely new, permanent exhibit in just over two years.
This grant is the first that the museum has received from NASA, and it will help fund several other educational events and programs at Exploration place in addition to funding Design Build Fly.
