New Construction Projects Begin Feb. 20

Drivers to Encounter More Construction Feb. 20

A partnership between the City of Wichita, Kansas Department of Transportation and Kansas Turnpike Authority will result in three new, multi-year construction projects beginning on Feb. 20.

Each of the three projects will bring about major traffic changes for drivers.  As the expansion of East Kellogg continues, the ramp from eastbound K-96 to westbound Kellogg will close for the duration of the project. In addition, Kellogg traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Zelta and K-96 through late March, at which time a second eastbound lane will open up (lanes are restricted to 11 feet width). Additionally, the 127th Street connection to East Kellogg will permanently close.

The city is urging drivers to plan ahead for these changes and to stay informed as the projects progress.

More information is available at www.e54ict.com and via Twitter at @E54ict.

These projects will allow for construction of two major storm water structures under Kellogg as well as the reconstruction of bridges on Kellogg, which cross over the Kansas Turnpike.

The projects are expected to be complete in late 2021, weather permitting.
