Temperatures in Wichita will be in the high 60's and low 70's but as tempting as it may be don't break out the fire pit, outdoor fireplace, or do any brush burning.
Wichita Fire Department officials said today that local burn restrictions will remain in effect until Monday, March 7. The burn ban, which were originally scheduled to be lifted today, will be re-evaluated Monday morning.
“High winds and dry conditions are forecasted through today and into the weekend, with our next chance of precipitation arriving Sunday morning,” Fire Marshal Brad Crisp said. “No new burn permits will be issued and all previously issued burn permits will be suspended until at least Monday.
All open burning, including fire pits and outdoor fireplaces, are prohibited during the ban. Cigarettes should be fully extinguished in water before being properly disposed of in a metal can. The ban does not include outdoor cooking appliances.
