Wichita Community Theatre Presents the Classic Comedy "Harvey"
Wichita Community Theatre continues its 2018-2019 Season with "Harvey" by Mary Chase. This beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy runs Nov. 28 - Dec. 9.
"Harvey" tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd, a good-natured, mild-mannered eccentric with a very strange best friend: a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch invisible rabbit named Harvey.
When Elwood begins introducing Harvey around town, his sister Veta tries to have him committed at a local sanitarium out of concern that the wild story will cause embarrassment for her family. A frantic Veta explains to the sanitarium staff that her years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also, and so the doctors mistakenly commit her instead!
The behavior of the sanitarium’s prominent psychologist and his staff raise an age-old question. Who is more dangerous to society: the easy-going dreamer with a vivid imagination ... or the people who want him to conform to the accepted version of reality?
Performances are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 or $13 for military/senior/students. There is a special
opening night ticket price of $11 for all on Nov. 28 only. Call for reservations: 316-686-1282.
Wichita Community Theatre is located at 258 N. Fountain.
