Underwood brings Southern Heat to Intrust
Many know her from her debut on Season 4 of American Idol where she shocked the world with her huge vocals and country roots. Now on her 6th world tour, Underwood brings a high energy performance that will have you on the edge of your seat and may even fuel your anger for a past lover. The Cry Pretty Tour 360 travels with a full live house band who makes it very apparent that this is not their first rodeo. The show integrates many of Carrie’s popular hits from the late 2000’s with many of her new charts from her Cry Pretty album released in September of 2018. The unique eye-shaped stage, along with the light display, hydraulic lifts, snappy choreography, and larger than life presence of a star make this a tour you cannot miss.
Even after all these years, Jesus Take the Wheel is still a fan favorite that is expected at all shows. Underwood also stole the show with some very popular mashups including show-stopping medley of “Just a Dream” into Aerosmith's “Dream On”. Underwood also gave a shout out to some local heroes who have continued to keep fighting through adversity and dedicated the song “The Champion” to those who may fly under the radar of the press but still deserve praise. There aren’t many genres that Underwood backs off from, which was shown beautifully when she did a medley tribute to strong women who have paved the way for her career. She covered songs by timeless female artists such as Dolly Parton, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, and Shania Twain. Perhaps the steamiest part of the show was during the performance of “Drinking Alone” when Underwood appeared in a black cocktail dress sitting on a leather lounge chair, accompanied by live saxophone and standup bass in an extremely smoky atmosphere. And of course, the show was capped off with everybody’s favorite Carrie Underwood song, Before He Cheats. With this song reaching nearly 150 million streams on Spotify, Carrie barely had to sing along, the audience did the heavy lifting.
