Kechi Playhouse Presents "The Glass Menagerie"

Glass Menagerie

Kechi Playhouse is happy to announce the fourth production of its landmark 40th season—"The Glass Menagerie" by legendary American playwright Tennessee Williams. The classic memory play runs September 9–25 at 100 E. Kechi Road.

Amanda Wingfield is a faded remnant of Southern gentility who now lives in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her sardonic son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura, who has a physical handicap and debilitating shyness. The father has left home; Tom supports his mother and sister with a shoe factory job he hates while he dreams of a bigger life of freedom and adventure.

When Amanda convinces Tom to invite a work friend to dinner as a "gentleman caller" for Laura, the illusions that all three have created in order to make life bearable collapse around them.

This production features a stellar cast with Michelle Janssens as Amanda, Miranda Windholtz as Laura, Chris Sharkey as Tom and Joshua Rosenberg as Jim. The show is directed by Misty Maynard.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 Fridays and Saturdays and $15 on Sundays. Call for reservations: (316) 744-2152.
