Kechi Playhouse Presents "Everybody Loves Opal"
Kechi Playhouse is happy to announce the second production of its landmark 40th season—"Everybody Loves Opal" by John Patrick. The comedy runs July 8–31 at 100 E. Kechi Road.
Opal Kronkie is a middle-aged recluse who lives in a tumbledown mansion, which is filled with the many "collectibles" she's toted home in her little red wagon over the years. Into Opal's rather unconventional world come three con artists on the lam from the authorities. They decide that what Opal needs is a big life insurance policy and a swift demise.
Kechi Playhouse owner Misty Maynard will take to the Kechi stage for the first time in years in the title role of Opal. She'll be joined by another beloved Kechi Playhouse personality—Newman the Cat as Mr. Tanner! Regular theatregoers know and love this feisty orange tabby, who frequently greets audience members. "Everybody Loves Opal" also features the talents of Jered Becker, Amanda Dahna, Mike Shryock, Dalton Jay Nelson and Ben Smith.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 Fridays and Saturdays and $15 on Sundays. Call for reservations: (316) 744-2152.
