Furniture On Consignment Expands to Wichita Furniture
Furniture On Consignment is expanding to become both Wichita Furniture and Furniture On Consignment. After 27 years of service in Wichita, it's grown to become the only store in the city where you can buy brand new furniture and sell the old.
“Our new, name brand furniture selection has expanded and grown so much that we felt it necessary to tell everyone that we are more than just consignment... we are Wichita Furniture and Furniture On Consignment" said Jay Storey, President of Wichita Furniture.
Wichita Furniture is a homegrown Wichita company that owns and operates Ashley HomeStore East at Kellogg and Greenwich, Ashley HomeStore West at 21st and Maize, Wichita Furniture and Furniture On Consignment at 13th and Oliver, WichitaFurniture.com and FurnitureOnConsignment.com.
The company launched its new website, WichitaFurniture.com, in November of 2015. The website allows customers to browse the store's inventory and even place orders online. In developing the site, Wichita Furniture staff felt that it was important that the site possessed the same familiar name, products and prices as the brick and mortar retail location that customers have come to know and love over the years. This was done in order to create a smooth transition for existing customers of FurnitureOnConsignment.com, which can also be accessed through the new website.
Huge investments have been made in Wichita Furniture’s web presence, but this isn’t the only change customers will notice. The addition of a 20,000 square foot fully racked and stocked distribution center gives Wichita Furniture a total of 80,000 square feet of in-stock merchandise, and a new fully-automated inventory tracking system will help verify which products are in stock. Digital catalogs in the showroom allow customers the most up to date technology and advanced product displays. Wichita Furniture has also acquired two more delivery trucks and a semi trailer, bringing the company’s delivery fleet up to a total of 10 trucks and two semis.
Customers will see changes beginning on March 7, as the old sign comes down and the new sign goes up. Advertising campaigns will be released this week as well, informing customers of the changes. According to Storey, the new delivery trucks will hit the streets in the near future, as well.
“We are giving the customers what they deserve. Good products at a good price with an omni-channel shopping experience online or at our stores; real and accurate information 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Storey said.
“We (Wichita Furniture employees) go through countless hours of training so we can bring the best experience possible to our customers,” Storey said. “We want to be the ‘No Problem’ place for customers to get what they want, when they want it.”
Furniture On Consignment began in 1989 in downtown Wichita with one employee, $5,000 of borrowed money and a desire to become the best furniture company in Wichita. After 27 years, the company employs over 150 people and aspires to grow even more.
Serving Wichita for so many years, Storey has a deep appreciation for the city and its citizens.
“Wichita residents are loyal, innovative, honest and hard working. We love and respect our employees and customers as family,” Storey said.
