Workzones, Construction and Chaos
Here's a guide to current local road construction, what's going on, when to avoid it, and when it will be completed.

1. East Kellogg & Webb
Where: Kellogg and Webb Interchange
What: Part of the East Kellogg improvements. Kellogg will be expanded to a six-lane highway with frontage roads on either side. This project will also allow for better access to the Kansas Turnpike.
When: construction began mid 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2019.
Closings: Currently, there are no closings along Kellogg or web. At least two lanes of traffic will remain open throughout the project. Occasional Left turn capabilities may be restricted.
2. East Kellogg & Greenwich & K96
Where: Kellogg and Greenwich Interchange & K-69 and Greenwich
What: Part of the East Kellogg improvements. Kellogg will be expanded to a 6 lane highway with frontage roads on either side. As part of the Kellogg, Greenwich to K-96 Project, new ramps will provide direct connections from Kellogg to the Turnpike and from the Turnpike to westbound Kellogg.
When: Construction began mid 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2019.
Closings: Currently, there are no closings along Kellogg, Greenwich or K-96, at least two lanes of traffic will remain open throughout the project.
3. West Kellogg & I-235
Where: Kellogg and I-235 Interchange
What: Part of the Red235 project. The Red Project is supposed to address many of the heaviest traffic movements between I-235 and Kellogg. New off and on ramps between Kellogg and I-235 will be installed.
When: construction began November of 2015 and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2019.
Closings: Currently the on-ramps from West Street to Kellogg are closed. Throughout construction, two lanes of I-235 and three lanes of Kellogg in each direction are to be maintained as much as possible. However, occasional lane reductions will be necessary at times.
4. I-235 & Maple
Where: I-235 between Kellogg and Central
What: Part of the Red235 project. The Red Project is supposed to address many of the heaviest traffic movements between I-235 and Kellogg. 235 bridges will be widened to accommodate auxiliary lanes between Kellogg and Central.
When: construction began November of 2015 and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2019.
Closings: Throughout construction, two lanes in each direction of 235 are to remain open, however, occasional lane reductions will be necessary. Maple Street is currently scheduled to be closed January 23rd from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the removal of the southbound 235 bridge shoulder and rail. Maple will also be reduced to one lane of traffic throughout the project.
5. 21st and Amidon
Where: 21st and Amidon
What: This project aims to expand Amidon to a 5 lane roadway. Improvements to drainage, signaling, and sidewalks will also be made
When: construction began early 2015 and is expected to be completed mid to late 2016
Closings: Currently there are no street closings.
