Best Lunch Spots Downtown
There are lots of great places for lunch in downtown Wichita. While many are chain restaurants, here are some of our favorite local spots to grab a quick bite.
Wasabi Hinkaku - Japanese Food and Sushi
Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Located at Douglas & Washington, Wasabi features fresh Japanese favorites like sashimi, tempura rolls, nigiri, and more. They offer a sushi lunch for $9-$13, noodle lunch is $9 or $14 depending on options, and a bento lunch is $9-$10.
District Taqueria - Street Tacos
Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Sitting just west of Washington on Douglas, District Taqueria serves up tasty street-style tacos in their locally-made flour and white corn tortillas. Tacos include carnitas, carne asada, chicken achiote, fish and more, as well as grilled street corn. Tacos are $3 each, or get 3 for $7.50-$8.50.
Lotus Leaf Cafe - Food for Healthy Lifestyles

Located in Old Town at 2nd & Washington, Lotus Leaf serves handmade dishes made with clean, organic, sustainable ingredients and fair trade products. The menu accommodates a variety of dietary lifestyles, preferences, and allergies, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and more. Lunch options average $10-$14 and include sandwiches, burgers, salads and dessert. An extensive juice and smoothie menu ranges from $7-$13.
The Kitchen - New American/Casual
Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
The Kitchen sits just east of INTRUST Bank Arena, at the south end of the Union Station Baggage Claim building. You’ll find simple food made from scratch with clean, high-quality ingredients. Lunch choices include seasonal salads, paninis, pasta and a daily soups. Prices vary from $9-$14.
River City Brewery - Brewpub
Open for lunch at 11 a.m. Mon-Sat
11:30 a.m. on Sunday
One of Wichita’s favorite breweries also includes a restaurant, where you’ll find pizzas, sandwiches, several kinds of mac & cheese, salads, country fried steak, tacos, pasta, seafood and burgers made with Kansas-raised beef. Located at 1st and Mosely in Old Town.
Old Mill Tasty Shop - Classic Soda Fountain

Lunch hours are 11 a.m. - 3 pm Monday through Thursday
Open until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays
Located just north of INTRUST Bank Arena on Douglas, Old Mill Tasty Shop is a Wichita classic. With sandwiches like peanut butter, banana and honey, Mexican dishes, green chili and a daily blue plate special that includes lasagna, meat loaf and chicken fried chicken, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to save room for a famous malt, ice cream sundae or real fountain soda. Prices range from $5.50-$12.50.
Larkspur Bistro & Bar - Upscale Dining
Open for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
If you’re looking for more of a fine-dining lunch option, Larkspur’s medley of Mediterranean, Italian, French and American dishes can’t be beat. Try the crab cakes, calamari or spinach artichoke dip appetizer. Then choose from the large selection of salads and pasta, sandwiches, and chicken, fish or beef entrees. Located on the north side of Douglas at Mosely street. Prices range from $9-$21.
Emerson Biggin’s - Sports Bar
Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Located on Douglas at Rock Island, Emerson Biggin’s is a large sports bar in Old Town. You can find just about anything on their menu, including sandwiches, burgers, tacos, pizza and wings. If you’re looking for something on the healthier side, they have fish and several salads to choose from.
Public at the Brickyard - Locally-Sourced

You’ll find a little bit of everything here: Sandwiches, pizza, tacos, salads and more, all made with fresh local ingredients. Most lunch items are $9-$12, and pizzas are $12-$16. Public is located in the lower level of a restored warehouse, north of Douglas on Rock Island. Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Heroes Sports Bar and Grill

You’ll find all the typical sports bar food - nachos, wings, pizza, burgers, and sandwiches in a fun atmosphere. The large patio out front is always a popular place to eat when the weather’s nice. Located just north of Douglas on Mosley Street.
The Anchor - Gastropub
Open for lunch at 11 a.m.
Just a couple of blocks west of Washington on Douglas, you’ll find The Anchor. The eclectic sandwich selection can be paired with sides like truffle fries and fried okra. The meat for their burgers is ground in-house every day, and you’ll find unique choices like the Haystack, which comes with fries and queso on top. They’ve got vegetarians covered with a delicious black bean burger.
Lemongrass: Taste of Vietnam - Vietnamese Food

We have to include this one, because it’s also one of Harrison Ford’s favorite lunch spots when he’s in town getting his airplane serviced. The lunch menu includes pho and several vegetarian selections, as well as egg rolls, spring rolls, fried rice, stir-fry, noodle bowls and more. Prices range from $8-$12.
ICT Urban Pop-Up Park - Food Trucks
Lunch hours are 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

If the weather’s good, go somewhere that everyone will love - the ICT Urban Pop-Up Park. Located on the south side of Douglas between Market and Main, you’ll find a selection of Wichita’s favorite food trucks, with tables to sit and enjoy your meal.
