Tips When Choosing a Realtor
Choosing a Realtor to help you sell your house or find you your dream home can be difficult. We asked local Realtor Dan Madrigal of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty KS what he might suggest to those looking for a new Realtor.
Go with a Pro
Words like agent, broker and Realtor are often used synonymously. But not all agents or brokers are Realtors. The term "Realtor" is defined as a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors and subscribes to its strict code of ethics. Finding an agent with this qualification can mean the world of difference in your real estate journey.
If you’re looking to buy or sell a house, you don't want to be part of someone's learning curve. A great question to ask your potential realtor is how long they’ve been practicing. Also, ask how long they’ve had their license.
Browse current listings
Look at the listings the agent advertises. How close do the agent's listings match the type of home you want to buy? Do you see anything right away that's interesting to you?
Pick a winner
Is the Realtor you’re looking at successful? How many homes deals did they complete this year? How many of them were in the area you’re looking? Have they won any awards or honors?
Trust Your Gut
At the end of the day pick a Realtor you’re comfortable with and that you trust. If something doesn’t feel right listen to your gut and ask questions until you’re comfortable or you know it’s not a good fit.
