"Shocking" the Nation

I know you’ve been hearing it everywhere, but it’s just so fun to talk about! Our very own Wichita State Shockers are in the Final Four! Their journey to this position was no easy feat. Wichita State beat Pittsburg and then the No. 1 seed, Gonzaga, to advance to the Sweet 16. After defeating La Salle and the No. 2 seed, Ohio State, Wichita State earned their ticket to Atlanta.

Wichita State may seem like a Cinderella story to those who haven’t been Shocker Faithfuls the entire season, but those who have been watching all along know what the Shockers are capable of and it’s become apparent during tournament play.

The WSU Shockers are made up of a lot of great players that work well together and have the will to win. Their performance during this tournament has been a great joy to watch and it’s given the Shockers and their hometown of Wichita even more attention. Although they are the lowest ranked seed in the tournament, fans have no doubt that they won’t show up to play.

The support of the city has been great. Everywhere you go there are signs up for the Shox and many businesses have specials going on. Heroes Sports Bar & Grill is hosting a watch party for the game this Saturday night complete with an exclusive Final Four Wichita State menu, Auntie Mae’s Café is promoting the Final Four with daily specials throughout the week and Derby Family Entertainment Center is having a Shocker Game Special on Saturday with $6 pitchers, $2.50 wells and $1.50 draws to name a few!
