Solar System

The Cosmosphere's Solar System camp teaches students about space travel and teamwork through hands-on activities. Designed specifically for children entering second and third grade, this camp offers a fun and exciting opportunity for younger children to learn about space! The camp will run twice this summer, from June 5-9, and again from July 10-14. During each program, both a morning and afternoon session will be held. Morning camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon and afternoon camps will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Lunar Base

Length: Five half-days (9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m.)
Grades: 3-4
Tuition: $119

Lunar Base Camp designed for children entering third or fourth grade. Focusing primarily on the exciting challenges of living on the moon, this camp will allow campers to work in teams, create lunar colonies and experience science hands-on. The camp will run twice this summer, from June 5-9, and again from July 10-14. During each program, both a morning and afternoon session will be held. Morning camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon and afternoon camps will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Adult Astronaut Adventure

Length: Three days, no overnight accommodations provided
Ages: 21+
Tuition: $250, includes meals

The Cosmosphere also offers an Adult Astronaut Experience that offers the unique opportunity for adults to use high-powered telescopes, learn from space experts, participate in simulated missions enjoy wine and cheese and even a dinner at Hutchinson's Airport Steakhouse! The three-day camp will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28 and run until 10 p.m. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and again on Sunday, this day camp does not provide overnight accommodations.

Minecraft® Mayhem

Minecraft Mayhem at Exploration Place allows students to create their own characters and game fields, bringing the game of  Minecraft® to life. This camp will run May 30 through June 2.

Superhero Science

From June 5 to the 9, bring your children out to Exploration Place to learn about Superhero Science! At this camp, children will experience awesome science and tech skills first-hand.

Create a Comic Strip

This one-of-a-kind camp allows children in grades 1-6 the opportunity to create their very own comic strips! Create a Comic Strip runs from June 12-16.

Running from June 19-23, Exploration Place's Super Spies camp uncovers top secret tricks and tools necessary to teach campers to become super spies.

Build to Soar

Balloons, planes and even rockets will be engineered in this Exploration Place camp! Running from June 26-30, this camp allows children to launch their own creations and watch them soar!

Paleo Party

Children in first through sixth grade are invited to a Paleo Party at Exploration Place! Running from July 10-14, this camp involves digging up dinosaurs, excavating ice age mammals, and untangling a T. Rex from an ooey-gooey tar pit.

Running July 17-21, Exploration Place's Heroes and Villains camp enables campers to construct the perfect stories while carefully treading the line between becoming a hero or a villain!

Become a Chemical Crusader with this Exploration Place Camp! Running July 24-28, this camp lets children help save the world one cool chemical reaction at a time!

Masters of Disasters

The only thing cooler than engineering city buildings is watching them come crashing down, right? At Exploration Places's Masters of Disasters grade school camp, children get to do both! From July 31 to Aug. 4, children can craft chaos as design a city that will later be destroyed in a carefully crafted battle.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

From August 7-11, Exploration Place partners with Music Theatre Wichita to offer its Extra! Extra! Read All About It! camp. MTW hosts Disney's Newsies this summer, so this camp gets involved by investigating science news from all over the world! If that's not enough, campers will even get to publish the very first edition of the Exploration Place Summer Science Gazette!

Tinker Tech courses are designed for grades five through nine and will be held in Exploration Place's Butler Community College Technology Studio.

Heroes Alive: Comic Strip Animation

Length: Five days, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Offering a slightly more advanced approach, this Comic Strip Animation course will allow students to both design and animate their digital heroes that fly over the Wichita cityscape. Heroes Alive: Comic Strip Animation will run from June 5-9. 

Coding Craze

From June 12-16, Exploration Place invites fifth through ninth graders to go crazy and code apps, robots or even their very own inventions!

Games Galore!

At Exploration Place's Games Galore! Tinker Tech camp, children in fifth through ninth grade will be able to design tabletop games using high-tech tools and classic game mods. Games Galore! runs from June 19-23.

City Circuits

Are you ready to channel your inner architect? From June 26-30, children can do just that! At Exploration Place's City Circuits, students will have the chance to design and build their own working city.

Super Toys and Tech

At Super Toys and Tech camp, children can construct and test models of classic superhero toys and technology. This course runs from July 10-14. 

Design a Drone

Length: Five days, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Campers will discover the world of drones through construction, design and even flight at Exploration Place's Design a Drone camp. This session will run from July 17-21. 

Underwater Robotics

Running from July 24-28, the Underwater Robotics camp will focus on the designing, building and directing of an underwater remotely operated vehicle through a challenging obstacle course.

Dimensions: From 2-D to 3-D

Take your drawings from flat to fabulous at Exploration Place's Dimensions: From 2-D to 3-D camp for fifth through ninth graders. Running July 31-August 3, this camp offers a first-hand look at the 3-D printing process.

Ages: 6-15, new players only

The Genesis Foundation for Fitness and Tennis will once again offer Junior Tennis Summer Camps. The series of introductory tennis lessons are taught by Genesis Health Club tennis professionals. Intended to give interested youth the opportunity to learn the sport, this camp in recommended for new players only.

Children will learn fundamental tennis skills like forehand, backhand, volley, serve and overhead as well as basic strategy. Registration dates and times have yet to be announced for Summer sessions. Check for updates.

Hot Art for Cool Kids

Length: One day, Wednesdays and Thursdays in June and July
Ages: 6-12
Price: $6

Hot Art For Cool Kids is designed for children between the ages of six and 12. Running on Wednesdays and Thursdays in June and July, the program will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. Priced at just $6 per student per day, this is an affordable and fun option. Campers will be separated into age appropriate groups dividing into ages 6-8 and 9-12. Wednesday sessions will be for ages 6-8 and Thursday sessions for ages 9-12. Learn more. 

Art Start Goes to Camp

Length: One day, Tuesdays in June and July
Ages: 3-5 with parent
Price: $5 per child

Art Start Goes to Camp allows children ages three to five the opportunity to use their imaginations as they create, talk, sing, and play at the Wichita Art Museum’s summer preschool camp. This program will feature four different themes on Tuesdays in June and July. Sessions will run from 10-11:30 .am. and from 1:30-3 p.m. Students are invited to attends one, two, or all of the sessions. The Program is priced at $5 per child per day and advance registration and payment are required. Sign up and adult chaperones are admitted for free. Sign up online.

Camp Invention will be held at Wichita's Robert Martin Elementary School from June 5-8. At Camp Invention, children face fun, hands-on challenges that are designed to encourage creative problem solving, entrepreneurship, innovation and teamwork. CYT offers a variety of summer camp options for students who want to get involved with drama, music and dance! 

Half-day Camp for Ages 5-7

Length: Five days
Ages: 5-7
Price: $95

Running from 9 a.m. until noon, this camp offers children the chance to experience all of the elements of a theatre camp in half-day sessions. Focusing on topics like drama, voice, and dance, this camp will offer hands-on learning to all campers. Also highlighting a final showcase performance, campers will learn what it's like to put on a real show.

All-day Camp for Ages 5-7

Length: Five days
Ages: 5-7
Price: $165

This program runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is offered as al alternative to the half-day camp, allowing families to choose the best fit for their student's needs. The afternoon session for 5-7-year-olds includes work on props and sets, as well as more fun time with acting, singing and dancing. The final showcase will feature an extra number especially for students who stayed for the afternoon sessions. 

CYT Camp for ages 8-12 

Length: Five days
Ages: 8-12
Price: $175

CYT's full-day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) camp for ages 8-12 includes dance, drama, and voice workshops for campers to enjoy. Featuring special theme days, campers will even encounter water games and inflatables! Slightly more challenging than camps for younger children, this program will give students instruction on dance and vocal techniques, acting tips and more.  At the conclusion of the program, families and friends are invited to see the product of their campers' hard work at a free showcase event!

CityArts will offer a variety of Summer Camp programs this year, each featuring a theme of “Explore Your Creativity on Route 66”. Each week, campers will create projects in different mediums, including leather work, jewelry, glass fusing, pottery, fiber, painting, digital arts and more. Campers will receive a sampling of all the mediums that CityArts offers. If a child likes one particular medium during art camp, he or she will be encouraged to explore a youth art class. CityArts offers a wide variety of youth and teen art classes each session. Camp enrollment is for the entire week and campers should bring a sack lunch and a refillable water bottle each day. Happy Feet Soccer offers a variety of programs for different ages and skill levels. For preschoolers, the curriculum focuses on enhancing coordination and balance, boosting self-esteem and self-confidence, and increasing skills in listening and following directions. For grade-school-age children, the program highlights a Legends curriculum that includes fun games like Sharks and Minnows and much more. The Legends program promotes good behavior, happiness, and health. Though some details have yet to be determined, camps have been scheduled for the following dates.

STEAM Camps at MarkArts

Length: Camps offered each week, 1-4 p.m.
Ages: 6-11
Price: $120 per week, $110 for members (Scholarships available)

MarkArts will offer STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) summer camps each week from late May to early August. Running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the program will encourage learning in fun new ways! This program is recommended for ages 6-11. 

Art-Based Morning Camps at MarkArts

Length: Camps offered each week, 8-10 a.m. or 10 a.m. to noon
Grades: Elementary School - High School
Price: $120 per week, $110 for members, includes supplies (Scholarships available)

MarkArts partners with The Independent School to offer a variety of art-based morning summer camp sessions. Running from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. and from 10 a.m. until noon, these programs engage student learning and creativity. Elementary school camps will be held during the first week of each month, followed by a middle school camp the second week of the month and a high school camp during the third week. MGM Dance Studio offers four-day dance and tumbling camps to a variety of age groups. Check out the programs below.

Music Together of Wichita will begin its Summer Flex Semester in June. Running for six weeks,  The award-winning international music program will allow children to sing, dance to finger plays, play instruments and more! Children 8 months and younger are free with a registered sibling.

Length: Five days/week, May 22-June 6, June 12-30
Grades: 9-12
Price: $500 per student

Two summer sessions of Health/PE are available through Trinity Academy this year. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the first session occurring from May 22 to June 6, and the second session taking place from June 12-30. In this course, students will learn the concepts of team sports and gain an understanding of first aid training, major bones and muscles and nutrition. PE Uniforms are required and are included in the cost of the class. Class will not be held on Friday, June 30.

Several Summer Camp options are available through the Wichita Riding Club! If you're a fan of riding, or if you're just getting started, this is the place to go! 

Morning Sessions

Morning camp sessions run for a week each and are available four times this summer. Students ages 5-8 can enroll in camps from July 3-7 or Aug. 7-11 and students ages 8-12 are welcome to participate in sessions from May 29 to June 2 or Aug. 14-18.

Afternoon Sessions 

Length: Five days, 1-3 p.m.
Ages: 5-8, 8-12, 10+

Afternoon sessions run for a week each and are available three times this summer. Students ages 5-8 can enroll in camp from June 5-7.  Ages 8-12 are invited to participate in the camp running July 10-14. Children ages 10 and up can attend camp from June 19-23.

Wichita Gymnastics will offer day camps from 1-4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays this summer. During camps, children will spend one hour swimming, one hour doing gymnastics and playing games, and one hour doing arts and crafts. Children will be provided with a snack and a drink each day. Enrollment prices start at $75 per week for nonmembers and $70 per week for members. Prices for returning students will be discounted each week, and additional sibling discounts are also available. Paw Patrol Camp Plus Dance

Inspired by Nickelodeon's plucky pups led by 10-year- old Ryder, the Paw Patrol camp is a great choice for fans of the show! Each a rescue dog in training, the pups on the show are each inspired by a real-world job like firefighter, police officer or medic, and the work together to protect the community. Students in the Paw Patrol camp will enhance the theme through the use of music, dance, theatre, and art. This session will run from 10-11:30 a.m. on June 5-9. 

Disney's Winnie the Pooh (A Musical)

Length: Two weeks
Ages: 6-10
Price: $165

Take a trip to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Pooh Bear and all of his friends work together to rescue Christopher Robin. This camp will produce a musical that will be performed at Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center, on Sat.urday, June 24. The session runs from 10 a.m. to noon, June 12-23

Disney Radio (A Musical)

Length: Three weeks
Ages: 9-12
Price: $135

Students in this camp will perform a musical in which they sing and dance to classic Disney songs. The final production will take place at The Wichita Children’s Theatre on June 28. The program runs from 1-2:30 p.m., on Mondays-Wednesdays, June 12-28.

Peter Pan, Jr. (A Musical)

Length: Three weeks
Ages: 10+
Price: $175

This musical adaptation of Disney's Peter Pan allows students to fly away to Neverland with Peter and the Darling children. With a final performance at The Wichita Children’s Theatre on Sat., June 24, the program runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays through Fridays from June 12-23.

Doc McStuffins Camp Plus Art 

Length: One week, Mon.-Wed., Fri.
Ages: 3-6, must be potty-trained

This camp will use music, theatre, and art to enhance the theme based on popular children's show, Doc McStuffins. In the show, 7-year-old Dottie dreams of becoming a doctor, just like her mother. She treats her broken and sick toys with the help of her stuffed animal friends. This session runs from 10-11:30 a.m., June19-23. There will be no class on June 22.

Little Einsteins Camp Plus Dance

Using art, photography, and classical music, this camp offers a colorful backdrop for the adventures of four young friends, the Little Einsteins. Featuring a dance component as well, this camp gives children a taste of a variety of fine arts. This session will run from 10-11:30 a.m. on July 10-14.

Willie Wonka, Jr. (A Musical)

Length: Three weeks
Ages: 10+
Price: $185

Catch up with the world-famous candy man in this WCTDC summer camp! This camp will produce a musical based on the Roald Dahl classic. This production will be performed at The Wichita Children’s Theatre on Sat., July 22. This session will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon, on weekdays from July 3-21.

Magic Treehouse “Pirates Past Noon” Plus Art (At Mark Arts, 9112 E. Central)

Length: Two weeks
Ages: 7-10
Price: $165

This camp, based on the best-selling book series, will chronicle characters Jack and Annie on a journey to the 18th Century Caribbean and the time of Pirates. Each enrolled student will perform in this show and work with an art teacher to make set pieces and props. This production will be performed at Mark Arts on  Fri., July 21. The session runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 10-21.
