A visit to Wichita's Botanica gardens is a perfect springtime date idea. During this season, guests will see Botanica's 26 themed gardens in bloom! A great place to take a romantic stroll, Botanica features more than 4,000 species of plants and breathtaking landscaping. Whether you're reading sonnets in the Shakespeare Garden, playing in the Downing Children's Garden or searching for all of Botanica's 30+ beautiful sculptures and fountains, you're sure to have a great time. 

If you visit in early April, you'll have the opportunity to experience the largest tulip display in the state of Kansas!

Create a memory that lasts forever at Wichita's Sedgwick County Park! A special addition called the Memories Park was created with the intention of serving as the backdrop for photos! You'll find a giant Adirondack chair, a vintage truck, a tandem bicycle and a wagon to pose with, as well as a variety of scenic views around the park to use for beautiful backgrounds.

The Great Plains Nature Center allows guests to get out and enjoy the weather while discovering nature. Off the beaten path, theses nature trails are a great date option for couples that like to explore. The Great Plains Nature Center's 2-mile paved trail system winds throughout the scenic Chisholm Creek Park.

Inside the Nature Center, a variety of interactive educational displays make learning about wildlife and plants in Kansas fun!

The Great Plains Nature Center is great on the wallet, too, because visits are totally free.

Paddle boating is a fun idea for couples! Allowing you to get out on the water and work together to paddle your boat, it's a perfect choice for couples who are young or young-at-heart! 

At O.J. Watson Park, paddle boat rentals are available during the spring and summer months. In addition, train rides and rounds of miniature golf can be purchased for a full Watson Park date! You and your partner can enjoy a walk down the Yellow Brick Road, play on playgrounds and more on your visit. Though some attractions (paddle boats, mini golf and train rides) do have fees associated, overall a trip to Watson Park makes for a low-cost date. Learn more about Watson Park.

It's the perfect time of year to grab a drink (or even a meal, if you feel so inclined) on the patio. it's warm but not too hot, and, most importantly, it isn't too buggy! Wichita is home to several restaurants with patio dining options. If you're looking for something casual, grab a drink at Central Standard Brewing! Play a few games of cornhole and enjoy a great, local beer. For a more upscale patio dining experience, Chester's and Newport Grill have great patios with scenic water views.

If you're a couple of animal lovers, you're in luck. Home to both Tanganyika Wildlife Park and the Sedgwick County Zoo, Wichita is a great place to experience wildlife. 

The nationally recognized Sedgwick County Zoo is home to more than 3,000 animals of 400 species. Guests are invited to see and learn about animals at the Sedgwick County Zoo 364 days a year! Wander through the Tropics, North and South America, Asia, Africa, Australia and more! 

For an up-close and personal experience, Tanganyika Wildlife Park offers a variety of unique, interactive animal experiences! Interactive experiences require additional fees that help feed the animals throughout the winter, but the opportunities are so worth a few extra dollars. Guests can feed giraffes and lorikeets, walk with the kangaroos, ride camels and more!

Sure, you could hop in the car, drive outside of town and go stargazing, but why not take advantage of the newly reopened Lake Afton Public Observatory instead? Open from 8-10 p.m. in March, 8:30-10:30 p.m. in April and from 9-11 p.m. in May, The observatory offers a 16-inch telescope and a variety of exhibits to keep you entertained while you visit. 

Open on Friday and Saturday evenings, the observatory offers low admission, priced at $8 per person for adults, $7 for seniors, $4 for youth and $20 per family.

Springtime weather is great for golfing! With over 20 public and private courses in and around Wichita, couples who love to golf have plenty of options. Whether you're beginners or PGA-bound, golfing offers a fun outdoor date idea with a competitive edge.

Elderslie Farm, located at 3501 E. 101st Street, will offer Spring Farm to Table Dinners beginning on May 4. Though that may seem like it's still pretty far away, it's important to plan this date early, because space is limited and will fill up quickly.

Farm to Table dinners at Elderslie begin outside on the patio with wine and artisanal cheese before moving inside for
the remaining courses. Taking advantage of in-season and available produced from their farm and other local sources, courses are served with wines carefully paired by Jamie Stratton of Jacob Liquor Exchange.
