Old Wichita Riverfest Buttons
The first Wichita Riverfest button debuted in 1972 when the festival was called The Wichitennial River Festival and Traders Day. Each year since then, the buttons have featured a new, locally sourced design.
Buttons cost $1 until 1990, when they were raised to $2. From 2000-2005 buttons were $3. From 2006-2014 they were $5. In 2015 the price was raised to $10. 2018's button prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
If you're curious what a Riverfest button is worth, we did the math on the 2018 festival, and it's more than you'd think!
As this year's festival begins, we decided to take a look back at some old buttons. Check out the complete 1980s and 1990s collection.
