Overnight Summer Camps In Wichita

Nothing says summertime like a trip to camp! If you're looking for overnight camps, you're in luck! There are several options in the Wichita area. 

Cosmosphere

Alien Adventure

Length: Three days, one night

Intended for students entering the fourth or fifth grade, Alien Adventure camp will occur three times this summer,  from June 14-16, July 5-7 and again from July 19-21. This three-day camp will feature one overnight stay, and will allow campers to decode alien messages, explore possibilities of environments beyond Earth, and even create their own alien life form! Tuition is $169.


Starship Earth

Starship Earth is a four-day camp with one overnight stay. This camp is intended for children entering fifth or sixth grade. This program has two dates this summer, running June 27-30, and again from July 25-28. Attendees will learn about the way humans survive in space. Students will visit the Dillon Nature Center, greenhouses, and/or the waste facility, and they'll even get to construct a solar water heater! Tuition is $199.


Mars Academy

Length: Three days, two nights

Students entering sixth or seventh grade have five opportunities to attend Mars Academy, as the camp will run from June 9-11, June 16-28, June 30-July 2 (girls only session), July 7-9 and July 21-23. Here, campers will prepare for a journey to Mars, build robotic sensor platforms, construct a power grid and more at Mars Academy. Tuition is $249.


Merits of Space 

Length: Five days, four nights
Boy Scout Camp
Tuition:

This scout camp runs from July 25-29. Campers will be able to earn Space Exploration, Engineering, Robotics, Aviation, and Astronomy badges at the Merits of Space camp. They'll also get to train to live and work in space by using a stress simulator, centrifuge and multi-axis trainer! Tuition is $549.


Space 101 

Length: Five days, four nights

There are six Space 101 camps for students to enroll in this summer, from June 6-10, June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27-July 1 (girls only session), July 11-15, and July 18-22. This camp is for students entering grades seven and eight and highlights the critical roles of both astronauts and mission controllers. Campers will even get to take a ride on the Falcon III Spacecraft Simulator. Tuition is $549.


Forces of Flight

Length: Five days, four nights

Are you up for the challenge? In this camp, students entering grades 7-8 will design, build and fly model planes. Test components will be designed through the use of a 3D printer and wind tunnel. Students will also tour facilities like the National Institute of Aviation Research and the Wichita State University School of Engineering and experience a glider flight with a certified instructor (weather permitting). This program will run from June 18-22.


Advanced Forces of Flight

Length: Five days, four nights

9+, students who have completed Forces of Flight

In this advanced flight camp, students have the chance to experience flight like never before! Focusing on the history of aviation, the manufacturing and engineering process and building remote control planes, students will gain an understanding of several aspects of aviation before flying a real, powered airplane! This program will run July 18-22. 


Space 201

Length: Six days, five nights

9+, students who have completed Space 101 or Merits of Space

Students in this program will have the unique opportunity to fly a Falcon lll spacecraft simulator mission to service the Hubble space telescope, train like real astronauts and much more. Using the 4-G centrifuge, multi-axis trainer and stress simulator students will feel like they're preparing for an actual launch into space! This program will run from June 11-16, 25-30, July 9-14, and 23-28.


Space RX

Length: Six days, five nights

This one-of-a-kind program enables campers in grades 9-11 to research authentic medical issues that may arise in space. Among these are issues like proper nutrition and exercise on long-duration missions. Students will connect with doctors, nurses, and practitioners in cardiology, neurology, nutrition, physical therapy, orthopedics, mental health, general surgery, human factors, radiology, and dermatology. This program takes place from June 12-17.


Space 501: California

Length: Six days, four nights, includes travel

10+ and have completed Space 301

This camp allows students the opportunity to visit the California Science Center, where they can view the space shuttle Endeavour, Edwards Air Force Base, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Armstrong Flight Research Center and the Griffith Observatory. The program runs from June 25- July 1.


Sedgwick County Zoo Creature Camp Out

The Sedgwick County Zoo will host two Creature Camp Outs this summer! On June 24, families are invited out to stay the night at the zoo for the Great American Backyard Camp Out. On July 21, the zoo hosts an indoor camp out! This year, Creature Camp Outs will feature a frog watch theme, so come prepared to have a hopping good time!

Creature Camp Outs will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evenings. Campers will be required to bring their own tents and sleeping bags. The event is jam-packed with activities including dinner, a guided tour, activities, an animal encounter, and even a bedtime snack! The adventure continues in the morning with continental breakfast and a 9:30 a.m. tram ride. Register online.


Christian Youth Theatre Teen Camp

Length: Five days (one overnight stay)
Ages: 13-18
Price: $220

CYT's Teen Camp will run from July 10-14. The program is designed for ages 13-18. Singing, dancing, and acting are just a few of the styles and methods of performing that this camp will encompass. This camp highlights one overnight stay at "Whispering Winds" camp, where campers can enjoy games, swimming, food, and of course, a camp fire!

KidzWorld Camp

KidzWorld Camp will take place June 5-8 at Sky Ranch in Quapaw, Oklahoma. Designed for elementary school-aged kids, this program allows students to spend time having fun and learning about God. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in many fun recreational activities as well as attend worship sessions!


ReWired Summer Camp

Length: Four days
Grades:  5-8
Price: $279 through March 6, $279 regular price, $299 last call

ReWired camp will take place from June 12-15. Held at Windermere Conference Center, students will travel to the rolling hills on the edge of the Lake of the Ozarks. At ReWired, students will experience exciting worship, hear challenging messages from Student Pastor Daniel Mahannah and more! In addition, campers can participate in large group games and competitions. Windermere also offers a variety of other activities like swimming, ropes course, paintball, cave tours, hiking trails and more.


The Fuse Summer Camp

Length: Four days
Grades: 9-12

The Fuse summer camp will also take place at Windermere Conference center from June 12-15. Offering many of the same fun and exciting activities as the ReWired Camp, The Fuse is designed for students entering grades 9-12.

Middle School Camp

Pathway Church will take middle school students from all campuses to New Life Ranch in Colcord, Oklahoma for middle school camp this year. Students will get connected in small groups, experience great worship, be challenged by God’s Word and have fun! Swimming, games and sports are just the beginning of the activities camp has to offer! Some activities, like zip lining, laser tag and archery will require additional fees. This camp runs from May 30 through June 3.

MOVE 2017

Pathway's high school campers from all campuses will be returning to Lincoln, Nebraska, for this year's CIY MOVE camp at The University of Nebraska. Students will get connected in small groups, experience worship and be challenged by God’s Word. This program will run from July 10-14.

YMCA Family Camp Out

Length: One overnight stay
Price: $50 per family for members, $70 per family for nonmembers 

It's almost time for YMCA Summer camps! At Family Camp Outs, campers will need to bring their own tent and sleeping bags. The program will begin at 7 p.m. on Fri., June 24. Dinner is not provided. The camping experience is complete with canoes, a water slide, a pool, and s'mores. Saturday morning will begin with a provided breakfast, followed by family face painting, scavenger hunt, canoeing, fishing and much more. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a great weekend at camp!
