Wichita's Holiday Shows

Christmastime is here, and we're ready to break out the old holiday favorites! Whether you're looking for a screening of you favorite Christmas film, a new twist on a classic, a live performance of something brand new or a holiday concert, Wichita's got it all. Check out these holiday shows around town. 

"Holidays of Our Lives" at Mosley Street Melodrama, through Dec. 30

Holidays of Our Lives at Mosle
"Holidays of Our Lives" at Mosley Street Melodrama will run through Dec. 30. Written by Carol Hughes and directed by Tom Frye, this show is a great way to kick off the holiday season. "Holidays of Our Lives" will have you laughing in no time! After the show, the cast will perform a Rockin' in your Stockin' musical comedy revue! 

On Mondays through Saturdays, shows will begin at 7:50 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) and dinner served from 6:15-7:30 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and at 1:50 p.m. (doors open at noon) with lunch served from 12:15-1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoons. On Sundays, the show starts at 6:50 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) and dinner will be served from 5:15-6:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings.

No shows will be held on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Tickets for both dinner and a show are priced at $30.

“Elf” interactive screening at the Wichita Art Museum, Dec. 1

Get ready for a journey through the Candy Cane forest and through the Sea of Swirly, Twirly Gumdrops! At the Wichita Art Museum's interactive screening of "Elf", you'll feel like you're a part of the story! The special screening will involve audience participation and each guest will be provided with an activity pack. The "Elf" interactive screening is for ages 21 and older. Learn more here.

"The Kyle and Monte Christmas Musical" at Roxy's Downtown, Dec. 1 - 23

The Kyle and Monte Christmas M

Sketches and parodies are just the beginning in Roxy's Downtown's holiday show, "The Kyle and Monte Christmas Musical" Running until Dec. 23, the original, full-length comedy also boasts side-splitting characters and the "Kyle and Monte Medleys" for which the pair are known. 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, catered by Stroud's, will be served until 7:15 p.m. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $30 for premium seating, $27 for standard and $20 for economy. Reservations can be made by phone (316) 265-4400.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra The Ghosts of Christmas Eve at Intrust Bank Arena, Dec. 2

Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the powerhouse fusion of Christmas and Rock music behind hits like "Wizards in Winter", "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo", "Good King Joy" brings its 20th tour, "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve" to  Intrust Bank Arena on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to see the critically-acclaimed and multi-platinum group at Intrust bank arena range in price from $47 to $77 and are available here.

“Let it Snow” at Exploration Place, Dec. 3-4, 10-11, 16-31

“Let it Snow” at Exploration P

Exploration Place features a new holiday dome show this season. “Let it Snow"is a family-friendly show, featuring Christmas music from some of the biggest names in Christmas music, like Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Durante, Burl Ives, Gene Autry and more. "Let It Snow" combines great music with holiday images and scenes. Admission is priced at $5 for general admission, $4 for seniors, $3 for ages 3-11 and free for ages 2 and under.

"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical" at the Orpheum, Dec. 8

Rudolph the Musical at the Orp

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen, but did you know that "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical" will make its way to the Orpheum stage on Dec. 8? That's right! Catch your favorite characters, like Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, Hermey, the Abominable Snowman, Yukon Cornelius and Rudolph in a new take on the classic tale. Tickets range in price from $37.50 to $47.50 and are available here.

Classic Country Christmas at Prairie Rose Chuckwagon, Dec. 8, 15

Get a little country this Christmas with a chuckwagon supper, a performance by Kim Coslett and a horse-drawn wagon ride at Prairie Rose Chuckwagon's Classic Country Christmas event! Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $35 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. Children ages two and younger get in for free.

"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at Wichita Center for the Arts, Dec. 8 - 13

"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" will come to life on stage at MarkArts from Dec. 8-13. Come out and see the Wichita Children's Theatre's performance of the holiday favorite this season. Will the outrageous Herdman children ever discover the true meaning of Christmas? Showtimes are as follows:

"A Christmas Carol" The Musical at Century II, Dec. 9 - 11

A Christmas Carol The Musical

Even Ebenezer Scrooge couldn't pass up this event! Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" has been adapted into a musical, offering a unique twist to the classic story of the bitter, old Ebenezer Scrooge. With music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime and Seussical), this show highlights catchy tunes you'll sing the whole way home! During the show, Scrooge is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 10, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Dec. 11. Admission is priced at $12 in advance, ($10 for students) and $15 at the door.

"Christmas Letters" at First United Methodist Church, Through Dec. 11

Catch “Christmas Letters” presented by the Forum Theatre running through Dec. 11. Shows will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday nights and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are priced at $23 for Thursday evenings and Sunday matinees and at $25 for Friday and Saturday shows. The event will be held in the Wilke Center at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas at Century II, Dec. 11

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Grammy Award winner Chip Davis's Mannheim Steamroller will take the stage at Century II on Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. This show has been an American holiday tradition for 30 years, combining Mannheim Steamroller hits with stunning visual effects.

"It's a Wonderful Life" at the Orpheum, Dec. 15

It's a Wonderful Life at the O

Follow George Bailey on his endeavors in the Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life". In the film, Bailey is burdened by the workload he gained when he inherited his father's business. Distraught, he discovers that his work has kept him from fulfilling his dreams. When a guardian angel shows him what it would be like if he was never born, Bailey changes his tune. This is the last film in the Orpheum's 2016 Classic Film Series and tickets are priced at $5 each.

Scotty McCreery Hits & Holiday at The Kansas Star Casino, Dec. 16

Scotty McCreery Hits & Holiday

Country star Scotty McCreery will perform a Hits & Holiday show live at the Kansas Star Arena on Dec 16. McCreery quickly gained traction in the music industry, making Billboard history when he went platinum with his debut album. A recipient of several new artist awards, McCreery quickly rose to the top of the charts. McCreery's Hits and Holiday Tour is for all ages. Ticket prices start at $20 and are available online.

"The Nutcracker" Ballet at Century II, Dec. 16 - 18

The Nutcracker Ballet at Centu
Ballet Wichita will perform "The Nutcracker" at Wichita's Century II. The ballet is a well-known and well-loved choice at Christmastime. "The Nutcracker" takes the audience on a journey through a little girls fantasies of fairies, toy soldiers, princes and an army of mice. Tickets range in price from $12.50 - $40 and are available here.

Jim Brickman Comfort and Joy Holiday Tour at the Orpheum, Dec. 17

Celebrating a Christmas concert tradition of 20 years, piano sensation Jim Brickman will perform the Comfort & Joy Holiday Tour at the Orpheum Theatre on Dec. 17. Brickman is known for his holiday classics such as “The Gift,” “Sending You A Little Christmas,” “Peace,” “Angel Eyes” and “If You Believe.” The show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets range in price from $40 to $65 and are available online.

"The Hip Hop Nutcracker" at the Orpheum, Dec. 20

The Hip Hop Nutcracker at the
If the traditional Nutcracker isn't really your thing, this hip-hop fusion is a great option. Though the Nutcracker and hip-hop may seem like an odd combination, they come together perfectly in this show. One of Hip Hop's founding fathers, MC Kurtis Blow, will open the show, which will take place at the Orpheum On Dec. 20. Featuring a DJ, a violinist and a crew of all-star dancers, this performance is a must-see. Tickets are priced at $35 for balcony seating and at $40 for orchestra seating and are available online.

Broadway Christmas Wonderland

Broadway Christmas Wonderland highlights favorite holiday classics such as "White Christmas", "Jingle Bells", "Winter Wonderland", "Deck the Halls", "Rocking around the Christmas Tree" and more. Featuring kicking chorus girls and the magic of the holidays, this show is a most see. Get tickets here

Murder Most Fowl at Prairie Pines, Through Dec. 23

Though a murder mystery may seem like an uncommon choice for a Christmas production, Prairie Pines blends the two for a unique holiday event in “Murder Most Fowl, or Yule Get Run Over by a Reindeer”. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for shopping at the Old Barn Christmas Shop and a three-course dinner will be served starting at 6:40 p.m. Tickets are priced at $32.95 plus tax. Make reservations.
