Coming 2017: Things Wichitans Can Look Forward To
It’s time to start gearing up for another new year! Wichita’s got some pretty exciting plans for 2017. Here are a few things Wichitans can look forward to in the new year!
Braeburn Square at WSU
Wichita State University will begin construction on a mixed-use development called Braeburn Square at 21st and Oliver in the spring. Spanning 20 acres, Braeburn will feature restaurants shops and lodging.
Starbucks on WSU Campus
Wichita State University will be outfitted with a full-service Starbucks on campus in the coming year. Located in Braeburn Square on the Innovative Campus, this will be the first retail shop to open in the newly developed area. Starbucks will be open in late winter to early spring and will be located just north of the University’s Woodman Alumni Center.
In addition, Braeburn will highlight a private student apartment complex. Located just south of Eck Stadium, the first apartment building will be ready for occupancy by the start of the fall semester in August 2017.
The complex highlights 112 apartment units, boasting an occupancy of 285 residents when full. The apartments each offer a full bathroom with every bedroom, a full kitchen and laundry, and balconies for nearly all of the apartments. The complex will serve graduate students and undergraduates beginning at the sophomore level. The complex is designed to accommodate additional buildings in future years.
Sprouts Farmers Market
Sprouts Farmers Market is expected to open in Piccadilly Square at Central and Rock Road in early 2017. Falling somewhere between a specialty grocery store and a traditional one, Sprouts will occupy the space where Piccadilly Market & Grill was prior.
A brand new GraceMed clinic will open on south Meridian near I-235 in the spring of 2017. The clinic, which will be located near the south branch of the YMCA, will offer behavioral health, dental and primary care to Wichita’s south side.
