Grab you friends and get ready for some weekend fun! Sports, music, and throwbacks to the 70's and 90's await! Here's a look at this weekend's events.

Beehive the Musical at Roxy's Downtown, August 12-13

Beehive the Musical at Roxy's

Roxy's Downtown debuts Beehive the Musical on Friday August 12. The Musical is a salute to women's music of the 1960s. More of a jukebox than a musical, this throwback will have you dancing in the aisles!

You can catch the show at Roxy's Downtown on Friday and Saturday nights, running from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Ticket prices range from $20-$30. Reservations can be made by phone at 316-265-4400.


2016 Mid-Continent Classic Figure Skating Competition at the Wichita Ice Center, August 12-14

The Wichita Ice Center will host the annual Mid-Continent Classic competition on Aug. 12-14. The U.S. Figure Skating Association sanctioned competition is presented by the Wichita Figure Skating Club. The Mid-Continent Classic competition is free for the public to attend, and seating is available in the stands in the Olympic rink, where all events will be held.

Practice time for competitors will begin Friday evening, and the competition begins Saturday. Beginning at 9:15 a.m., Saturday’s competition will feature 50 competitive events concluding at approximately 6:16 p.m. On Sunday, competition runs from 8:45 a.m. until close to 2:51 p.m., featuring another 35 competitive events. Music Theatre of Wichita Presents Mamma Mia, August 12-14

Remember all your favorite ABBA hits, like "Dancing Queen," "Honey, Honey," "Thank You for the Music," "Lay All Your Love on Me," "Money, Money, Money" and "Take a Chance On Me"? Get ready to groove to these and more ABBA songs this weekend at the Music Theatre of Wichita's performance of Mamma Mia!

Evening shows begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for evening shows range in price from $28 to $64. Matinees will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Matinee tickets range in price from $26 to $58.


NBC World Series at Lawrence Dumont Stadium

The competition narrows as the NBC World Series continues. The Series, now celebrating its 82nd year will bring 30 baseball teams from across America to downtown Wichita's Lawrence Dumont Stadium. 

For the first time in the history of the series, 24 Major League players will play for the same team. The Kansas Stars, a team sponsored by the Kansas Star Casino, will highlight Roger Clemens, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner. Clemens is one of 11 players on the team who has been an MLB All-Star. Clemens is joined by other NBC Alumni like Robertson, LaRoche, J.D. Drew, Dan Uggla, Jack Wilson, Koyie Hill and Ryan Kohlmeier.

Tickets are priced at $7-$11, and are for a single day pass that works for all games played that day.

This weekend's Bridal Bash offers a unique alternative to traditional bridal shows, allowing engaged couples an opportunity to take a closer look at their wedding options. Taste the cake, touch the linens, hear the DJ's and feel the designs as you peruse the venue. You'll really be able to visualize your special day at this event, where all the things you need are under one roof.

The event will run from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.  at Abode Venue on Friday, August 12. Tickets are available online, and  prices vary from $25-$50. 


Drink With the Dinos at Exploration Place, August 12

Dring With the Dinos at Explor

Come out for a few drinks with the dinos at Exploration place this weekend! The Drink With the Dinos event will highlight drink samples provided by Hopping Gnome Brewing Company, Nitro-Joe’s, Walnut River Brewing Company and Wichita Brewing Company. A cash bar will be provided by Xclusive Event Services. Light snacks available for purchase provided by Truffles Catering. Guests will also get to enjoy the dinosaurs featured in the national traveling exhibit Dinosaurs In Motion, a dinosaur obstacle course, a robotic ring toss on a triceratops’ horns and more.

Exploration Place’s Explore Store will also offer a limited number of event koozies. While you're there, don't forget to register for a chance to win tickets to I Love the 90’s at Intrust Bank Arena on Sept. 8.

The event will be held at Exploration Place on Friday from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets are priced at $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. This price includes drink samples and one drink ticket. Tickets are available online, or by phone at 316-660-0620.


Los Lonely Boys at The Orpheum, August 12

Los Lonely Boys at The Orpheum

Grammy-winning trio Los Lonely Boys will perform at Wichita's Orpheum Theatre on Friday, August 12 at 8 p.m.
Brothers Ringo Jr., Henry, and Jojo Garza, are known for their hit single “Heaven,” which became a Top 20 pop hit and even reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart. The group is also known for songs like “Blame It On Love,” “Give A Little More,” “It’s Just My Heart Talkin’ and “There’s Always Tomorrow.”

Tickets are $25 for balcony seating and $30 for orchestra seating. Ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13. Tickets can be purchased online at www.selectaseat.com, by phone at 855.755.7328, and in person at INTRUST Bank Arena Box Office.


The Banned at Kansas Star Casino on August 12

The Banned at Kansas Star Casi

The Banned will put Rock 'n Roll back in touch with its roots this weekend with a performance at the Kansas Star Casino. If you're ready to rock, come out at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 12 to see the show.

The Banned will perform in the Tin Lizard Bar & Grill, and there's no charge to see the show! Attendees must be 21 years of age or older. 

 


Yoga on the Lawn at the Wichita Art Museum, August 13

Yoga on the Lawn at the Wichit

Yoga on the Lawn returns to the Wichita Art Museum this weekend, featuring a class lead by Kelsea Wright, instructor at Limitless Yoga of Wichita. The all-levels flow class is appropriate for any skill level, and everyone of the age 16 or older is invited to attend. Get a great workout and have a great time at this event.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats and water bottles. The event is free to attend. In case of inclement weather, class will not be held. 


Like, So Totally 90's Double Feature at the Orpheum, August 13

Like, So Totally 90's Double F

Get ready for a 90s flashback! The Orpheum hosts the Like, So Totally 90's double feature this Saturday night at 7 p.m. At this double feature, guests will go on a world tour with the Spice Girls in "Spice World", and reliving the days of high school in "Clueless."

Tickets range in price from $8-$10 and can be purchased online. Costumes are encouraged, so break out those 90's threads!
