This summer is jam-packed with fun things to do. if you're looking for a few ways to fill your schedule, check out these local events!

Twilight Tuesdays at Sedgwick County Zoo, July 5-26

Children's Farm Fest: County F

On Twilight Tuesdays, the Sedgwick County Zoo offers free and family-friendly fun. On Tuesday evenings in the month of July. From 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., free admission is offered to anyone presenting a voucher. The zoo features over 3,000 animals of almost 400 species.

Twilight Tuesday vouchers can be picked up at select Cox Solutions stores, including the following Wichita locations:  

  • 2556 N. Maize Rd., Suite 102;
  • 2240 N. Rock Rd., Suite 101
  • 725 E. Douglas Ave
  • Cox locations in Derby, El Dorado and Newton will also offer vouchers. 

KEYN Summer Concert Series at the Waterwalk, Through August 12

KEYN Summer Concert Series at

The KEYN Summer Concert Series at the WaterWalk is a free outdoor concert held on Friday nights all summer long. For 2016, concerts will be held on six consecutive Fridays, beginning July 8. Here's the line-up for this year:


July 22 - Lucky People
July 29 - Annie Up
August 5 - Groove 42
August 12 - The Astronauts  

Bring a chair and enjoy free live local music, a beautiful riverside sunset, and local Food Trucks. The event opens at 6:30 p.m. with music at 8 p.m.


Music Theatre of Wichita Presents Oklahoma, July 13-17

MTYP Presents Oklahoma, July 1

From July 13 to July 17, the Music Theatre of Wichita presents the classic, Oklahoma. Guests will hear the production's hits such as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "I Cain't Say No," "Out of My Dreams," "People Will Say We're in Love," "Kansas City," and many more by Richard Rodgers. 

Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for evening shows range in price from $28 to $64. Matinees will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Matinee tickets range in price from $26 to $58.


Sleep With The Dinosaurs at Exploration Place, July 15-16

Exploration Place's Sleep With the Dinosaurs event allows guests to spend the night under the giant dinos featured in the Dinosaurs in Motion national traveling exhibit. There will be five hands-on activities to participate in, a screening of Flying Monsters in the Boeing Dome Theater and planetarium, late night pizza and a light breakfast.

The event runs from 7 p.m. on July 15 through 8 a.m. on July 16. Sleeping With the Dinosaurs is for ages 7 to 11, and prices are $55 for members and $70 for nonmembers.


DodgeBrawl at Intrust Bank Arena, July 16

DodgeBrawl at Intrust

At 11 a.m. on July 16, come out to Intrust Bank Arena to watch as teams of 6-10 players compete in this year's DodgeBrawl tournament.

The double-elimination style competition is a charity based event in which tournament proceeds will be donated to a charity or nonprofit chosen by the winning team.

Awards will also be given to the teams with the best team name and best attire.

The event will offer a beer garden for participants and fans alike, and a live DJ will provide music.  The event is free to attend. 


Supercar Autocross at Hartman Arena, July 17

Supercar Autocross at Hartman

Enjoy the automotive experience of a lifetime all day long on July 17 at Hartman Arena's Supercar Autocross event. You'll have the opportunity to drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini at the Supercar Autocross. The event begins with a group education session that will teach you the ins and outs of driving the amazing Ferrari 360 Modena, Ferrari F430, or the Lamborghini Gallardo. After you've been properly prepped, it's time for you to take the wheel for three laps of adrenaline-pumping speed -- and a sheer thrill unlike anything you've felt before. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly at the Orpheum, July 21

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

A screening of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly will be held at the Orpheum this summer to commemorate the film's 50th anniversary. This film is part of the Orpheum's Classic Film series and will be featured on July 21.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is an Italian Spaghetti Western revolving around three gunslingers competing to find fortune in a buried cache of Confederate gold amid the violent chaos of the American Civil War.

The show begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6. Tickets are priced at $5 each for general admission, $4 for students, seniors, military and groups of over 10. 


KISS Freedom to Rock Tour at Intrust Bank Arena, July 25

Get ready to rock! KISS brings its Freedom to Rock Tour to Wichita's Intrust Bank Arena on July 25, and you won't want to miss it!

Cowtown at Night at Old Cowtown Museum, August 1-31

Cowtown at Night at Old Cowtow

From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. every evening in August, guests are invited to see Old Cowtown Museum like they've never seen it before-- at night!

If you've ever wondered what happens at Cowtown after hours, this is your chance to find out! Watch as the Delano district comes alive while we explore the darker side of early Wichita.

The event will feature sleepovers for the kids, poker nights for adults, and gunfights with some cowboys.

You'll hear all your favorite ABBA hits, like "Dancing Queen," "Honey, Honey," "Thank You for the Music," "Lay All Your Love on Me," "Money, Money, Money," "Take a Chance On Me," and more at the Music Theatre of Wichita's performance of Mamma Mia, running form August 10 through 14 and 19 through 21.

Los Lonely Boys at the Orpheum, August 12

Los Lonely Boys will perform at Wichita's Orpheum Theatre on Friday, August 12 at 8 p.m.
Brothers Ringo Jr., Henry, and Jojo Garza, make up the Grammy-winning trio. Los Lonely Boys' lead single “Heaven” became a Top 20 pop hit and even reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart. Later the song won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The group received two more Grammy nominations in 200, for Sacred.

Los Lonely Boys’ most recent album features an expansive range of new sounds, as well as songs like “Blame It On Love,” “Give A Little More,” “It’s Just My Heart Talkin’ and “There’s Always Tomorrow.”

Wingapalooza at Intrust Bank Arena, August 20

Wingapalooza at Intrust Bank A

The Second Annual Wingapalooza will take place at INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016. This all-you-can-eat event will highlight the showcased work of several Wichita-area chefs and restaurants, and the search is on for the best wings in town. 

The event begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat wings, a beer garden with select local craft beers, and music from a live DJ. 
Samples of unique chicken wing recipes will be available from the more than 20 restaurants. The event highlights a competition for the best wings in Wichita, and two awards will be given. Let your voice be heard by casting your vote for the People’s Choice Award, and find out if the judges agree when they award the “Lord of the Wings” award. 

Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets to Wingapalooza are limited and guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 12 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available for purchase online at www.selectaseat.com, in person at the INTRUST Bank Arena Box Office or by calling 855-755-SEAT (7328).
