Sommelier Smackdown: Wine Pairing Competition

Five of Wichita’s finest sommeliers will compete at the Sommelier Smackdown at Chester’s Chophouse. The Sommeliers Smackdown will put 10 pairings to the test, and it’s up to you to decide who wins. Are you up to the challenge?

At 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, head to Chester’s for a fun afternoon of learning about and trying wines! Sommelier Smackdown attendees will be invited to the judging table, allowed to taste the pairings, and ultimately, decide who wins.

Chester’s is also offering a Master’s Experience package, which includes a separate and private Smackdown experience, discussion, two additional small plates and rare wines. The Master’s Experience also highlights discussion with 12 Master sommeliers, of just 229 Master sommeliers worldwide.

Proceeds from the Sommelier Smackdown will benefit the Guadalupe Clinic, a free clilnic run by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, provides healthcare to those in need. Offering Services like free physician care, cardiology, dermatology and much more, the Guadalupe Clinic is a great medical resource. Chester’s Chophouse has worked with the Guadalupe Clinic for years through AIWF (American Institute of Wine and Food) events.

The cost to attend the Smackdown is $250, and $350 for the Master’s Experience. The master’s Experience has sold out, but seating is still available for general admission.
