National Walk at Lunch Day

Today is another national “holiday,” one of the not-so-normal kinds. It’s “National Walk at Lunch Day.” This is, however, different than the frequent food holidays that make it okay to eat crazy, wild, unhealthy food just for that day. This is a "holiday" that encourages an active lifestyle This is a crazy "holiday" that I think I like.

“National Walk at Lunch Day” is a day that was made to encourage people to live healthy lifestyles and exercise on a regular basis. Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercising and it’s not too difficult to find 30 minutes per day to get out and walk. Most people can even do that on their lunch break.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is sponsoring “National Walk at Lunch Day” right here in Wichita. In honor of this “holiday,” people from all over the city are invited to attend and join in this fun one-mile walk along the river. Participants should meet in from of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce before the walk starts. The walk is scheduled to begin at noon, but the first 250 participants to stop by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield table will receive a free event t-shirt.

Don’t miss this opportunity to start a new journey of living a healthy lifestyle with a little added exercise each day.
