2016 Halloween Events
It's October, and that means it's time for Wichita's spookiest events of the year! Get into the Halloween spirit with these local Halloween events.
Museum of the Undead 4: The Institute of Undead Research at Exploration Place, October 14

Oh no! An outbreak of the ZMB1 virus is turning people into zombies. At the Institute of Undead Research, you can join the investigation of the disease. Learn all you can about this dangerous epidemic by playing miniature golf through a human cell, firing a cannon at zombies using beer goggles, experiencing a zombie dissection and more.
You'll also have a chance experiment with DNA with Pathogen Pong and play Twister with your personal DNA code. A Genome scavenger hunt will even offer a prize from the Explore Store.
Do you think you can get to the bottom of ZMB1 without getting infected? If you get hungry for something other than brains, don't worry food trucks like B.S. Sandwich Press and Lil'Bit Gourmet Burgers will be there to help.
Tickets are priced at $15 in advance. On the day of the event, prices jump to $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Tickets include one drink ticket and access to all museum exhibits.
This event is for ages 21 and older.

Third Annual Spooky Science at Exploration Place, October 22-23

A not-so-scary Halloween event for for kids, Spooky Science returns to Exploration Place for the third year.
This year, children will be able to participate in ooey-gooey experiments, use Nerf guns to shoot pollen through a giant nose, learn about bike safety and more!
Enjoy some spooky sports like human cell mini golf and bowling with ghosts! Spooky Science is included in general museum admission and is free for members.
The event will take place on October 22 and 23. If your kids are anxious to get suited up this Halloween, this is a great opportunity for them to wear their costumes a little early!

Night of the Living Zoo at the Sedgwick County Zoo, October 28-30

Bring your ghouls and goblins to the Zoo's Night of the Living Zoo, a family-friendly Halloween event! Running from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on October 28, 29 and 30, the event highlights a variety of Halloween-themed activities throughout the zoo.
Guests are invited to stroll down Jack-o-lantern Lane. If you dare, you can visit Dracula and fortune tellers. Grab some goodies as you make your way through Candy Land, but don't forget to say Trick or Treat!
Costumes are welcome, so come dressed for a night of spooky Halloween fun! If you're lucky, you might even see a few animals out in outdoor exhibits.
Advance tickets are available online and at local Quiktrip stores. Tickets are priced at $7 for zoo members and $9 for nonmembers. Children under the age of 2 do not need a ticket.

Fourth Annual Pumpkin Drop at Stearman Field Bar and Grill, October 15

Stearman's annual pumpkin drop is back! This family-friendly event is perfect for everyone. Pilots load up their planes with pumpkins and aim for a pattern alongside the runway. Spectators can watch from Stearman Bar and Grill's patio or along the runway (at a safe distance). The pilot who gets their pumpkin closest to the target will win a trophy. There will also be a costume contest for children.
This year, the event begins at 2 p.m. with the pumpkin drop and a costume contest for children. At 7 p.m., live music will be provided by Remedy, and at 10 p.m. a costume contest for adults will take place.

Pumpkins at the Park at Tanganyika Wildlife Park, October 21-22, 28-29

Go wild with Tanganyika Wildlife Park's signature Halloween event, Pumpkins at the Park!
A family-friendly event, Pumpkins at the Park offers fun for everyone. With events geared towards children, teens and adults, your whole family will be entertained! The pumpkin trail highlights trick-or-treating stations, performers, games, inflatable, crafts, a creepy-crawler encounters, a funny science show and more. A 3D haunted house, a creepy cage maze and paintball are available for teens and adults to enjoy, too! (Please note that some events may require additional fees.) Adults over the age of 21 will be able to enjoy drinks at two bars in the park.

A Night of Hay, Hooves and Halloween at Old Cowtown Museum, October 29-30

Old Cowtown Museum highlights its signature, old-fashioned Halloween event, a Night of Hay, Hooves and Halloween!
With trick-or-treating, dancing, and more, Cowtown's got something for everyone. The event also highlights meet-and-greet opportunities with well-known storybook characters such as the Headless Horseman, and guests can play fun family games, too!
Activity stations will be set up all around the museum to entertain trick-or-treaters. Your family will have a blast going pumpkin bowling, playing carnival games, and watching a zombie gunfight in the middle of Main Street!

Boo and Brew Ball at Venue 3130, October 29

Get glammed up for this year's Boo and Brew Ball hosted by Dress For Success Wichita! The Hollywood Glam themed event will feature a formal masquerade theme. The 15th annual Boo and Brew Ball will take place at Venue 3130 and feature live music by Annie Up.
The event highlights food and drinks, contests judged by local celebrities, silent and live auctions and a champagne and diamond fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will benefit women who are looking to re-enter the workforce.
The event will run from 8 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 29. Tickets are priced at $75 each, and tables of 8 are available for $600. Tickets are available for purchase online.
