Create For a Cause at AIGA's GUTS Carving Contest

Calling all designers, developers, art directors, artists, and photographers! If you’re a creative professional or creative student, it’s your time to create for a cause! The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Wichita brings its GUTS: Creative Carving Wishes pumpkin carving contest to Wichita to benefit Make-A-Wish Kansas, so give it your best and make some wishes come true!

Event Details

GUTS is a community-wide, friendly pumpkin carving competition. Through the event, AIGA Wichita hopes to raise between $6,000 and $9,000, enough to help grant a single child’s wish through the Make-A-Wish foundation.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, it’s time to get creative. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at The Alley, located at 11413 E. 13th Street. Participants must bring their own pumpkins. The event is free and open to the public to attend, and will offer a variety of free activities, like family pumpkin carving, a photo booth and more! Those who wish to participate in family pumpkin carving must bring their own carving tools. The event will also feature a silent auction, and guests can bid on the freshly carved creations.

Registration for the event includes one GUTS t-shirt and poster, and a chance to win an event package sponsored by the Alley. Registration for creative professionals is priced at $15 per person for individual entries, and $30 per team. Teams can be made up of two or three people. For creative students, registration is priced at $10 per person or $15 per team.

Participants will have 90 minutes to carve their pumpkins, which will then be evaluated by attendees as well as by the judges. Designated local design leaders will serve as judges for the event. For a full schedule of events or for contest rules, click here.
