10th Annual Death By Chocolate: A Rockin' Experience
Local chocoholics are in luck! Exploration Place’s largest fundraiser, Death By Chocolate, returns for the 10th year in a row on Feb. 27. From 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., guests can enjoy unlimited chocolate savories from more than 30 local chefs, bakeries, restaurants and chocolatiers.
Featuring a Rock 'n' Roll theme, this year’s event will highlight a live performance by Annie Up that guests can rock out to. Break out the fringe, leather, scarves and sunglasses, because rock star attire is encouraged! The event’s theme was selected in part due to the museum’s current travelling exhibit, Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World. Death By Chocolate guests will be able to view this exhibit during the event, as well as all of the museum’s other exhibits. The Rock ‘n’ Roll theme may also be seen in some of the sweet treats present at the event! With an open bar serving signature cocktails, wine and beer, a silent auction, and great music, Death By Chocolate is sure to be a good time.
Over the last 10 years, the event has continued to grow, boasting over 800 in attendance last year, including general admission and VIP ticketholders, host sponsors, vendors and volunteers. Despite its wild popularity, the event still has room to grow.
“We can accommodate up to 1,000 people on each side of the building. So we still have room to grow,” said Christina Bluml, Director of Marketing at Exploration Place.
Proceeds from Death By Chocolate will go towards underwriting education programs and exhibits at Exploration Place.
Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend Death By Chocolate. General admission tickets are $85 per person.
VIP Experience
VIP tickets including exclusive event opportunities are also available.
For an additional $15, guests can enjoy wine and chocolate pairings by Beth Tully, owner of Cocoa Dolce Artisan Chocolates and Jamie Stratton, Wine Director of Jacob Liquor Exchange. Tastings will be held at 7:30 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and at 9 p.m. Space is limited, so reserve you spot soon.
For an additional $20, guests will receive a bag of coins that will be redeemable for games and access to the margarita/sangria machine at the event.
VIPs will also be granted access to a Party Within a Party, an hour-long pre-party with a dinner buffet, chocolate pairings from Cocoa Dolce, and coffee tastings by Reverie Coffee Roasters.
