Wichita Theatre Winter Preview
Beat the winter blahs with live theatre that will make you laugh, cry and think. (And if it gets you and your holiday guests out of the house and away from political discussions, bonus!)
Here’s what’s coming up in Wichita theatres this winter.
Fist of Furry Reindeer: or Angry Santa Claus at Mosley Street Melodrama
If you’re planning a fun night out during the holidays or need a good laugh to beat the stress of the season, a show at Mosley Street Melodrama is the ticket. You’ll be in stitches all through the audience-interactive comedy, then humming and toe-tapping along during the musical comedy revue that follows. Enjoy dinner and a show, or the show only.
See Fist of Furry Reindeer: or Angry Santa Claus from November 9–December 30. Holiday shows fill up FAST at Mosley Street, so book early! Call 316.263.0222 for reservations.

In February, don’t miss the The Royale. Inspired by a true story, this exciting drama takes you ringside for the fight of the century. Jay “The Sport” Jackson sets his sights on becoming the heavyweight champion of the world, but the Jim Crow reality of 1905 America might be his fiercest opponent yet.
A Christmas Survival Guide at the Crown Uptown Theatre

Signature Theatre & Ex Leading Man Productions present this musical revue about finding the true essence of Christmas amidst the stress of the season. In songs and vignettes, the characters learn to cope with the season in ways that are both hilarious and heartwarming.
This dinner theatre show runs December 2–16. Call 316.612.7696 for showtimes and reservations.

WCT begins 2018 with Breaking the Code, a powerful biographical drama about genius mathematician Alan Turing. Turing is best known for his leading role in breaking the Enigma code in World War II, saving millions of lives. Since his work was classified top secret for years after the war, no one knew how much was owed to him when he was put on trial for breaking another code—the taboo against homosexuality. Breaking the Code runs from January 24–February 4.
In March, WCT will present the dark comedy-drama And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little. This Broadway hit explores the relationship between three very different sisters whose lives have reached a point of crisis. One sister has married her sister’s boyfriend and cut herself off, one is on the brink of madness, and one, yes, “drinks a little.”
How About You?
Which shows are you looking forward to the most? We want to know. And if we left any winter shows (late December through late March) off this list, let us know so we can add them!
