August 26 is National Dog Day. The nationally-observed day was founded in 2004 and celebrates...Just kidding. You're here for dogs, not long-winded explanations. If you'd like to learn more, click here. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy a brief introduction to the dogs of 360Wichita.com.

Pete - (Pet Parent: Rae)
Pete is an 11-year-old mutt who was rescued from the mean streets of Gainesville, Florida, before coming to live in Wichita. He greatly prefers the Midwestern lifestyle, since there's more snow to play in and fewer alligators to watch out for. Pete is the originator of the term "YOLO", which he offered up as justification shortly after eating an entire tube of pickle-flavored lip balm, along with a few of the biodegradable packing peanuts that came with it. Always the innovator, he plans to continue pushing the boundaries of what society considers "food" for many years to come.

Georgia - (Pet Parent: Peter)
This is Georgia. if you try to feed her human food, it must be meat or she will not partake. Her walks are one square block, then she must return home.

Bandit - (Pet Parent: Ashlynn)
So this is Bandit. He is 2 years old and weights 124 pounds. He is an Alaskan Malamute, who loves to work and playtime with his parents. He is stubborn but loving and compassionate. He really cares about how he looks and loves to get compliments. He loves cool weather and playing the with the cat and cows.

Claire - (Pet Parent: Olivia)
This is Claire aka Claire Bear, my family's beagle puppy. She is now 5 years old and loves to eat treats, chase squirrels, and take naps. Claire is very high energy and she loves people!

Harry and Penny - (Pet Parents: Bruce and Caroline)
My dogs (Harry & Penny) like to follow me to my parents house next door. After over an hour at their house I opened the front door to find them waiting for me patiently on the front patio!

Giada - (Pet Parent: Julie R.)
This is Giada. She is a 2 year old Italian Greyhound. She loves to cuddle, can jump high and run really fast.

Nala - (Pet Parent: Amber)
This is Nala. I rescued Nala, a member of the lonely hearts club, from the Humane Society about 6 years ago. She needed a friend shortly thereafter so that's when Czar came along.

Czar - (Pet Parent: Amber)
This is Nala's friend, Czar. When he was adopted, he had MANGE! Ugh! After 8 weeks of intense treatments, he was healthy again and the two (he and Nala) became the best of friends. They love to sleep together in their king-sized tempurpedic bed, pounce around in the snow, drink wine and most of all, make their owner feel like the luckiest dog owner alive!

Aspen - (Pet Parent: Morgan)
This is Aspen: a one year old Australian Shepard, red-tri color. Aspen's favorite hobbies are playing frisbee, jumping straight into the air, stealing all my husband's love and morning cuddles. We bought Aspen a few months after we got married, much to the disapproval of my family who told us to wait a year, and I instantly saw why. My husband, Sean, is obsessed! I've officially been replaced as his main lady. But really, Aspen is a bundle of energy with the greatest personality. She's friendly, loyal, adventurous and learns new tricks almost instantly! From playing dead when you shoot her to spinning on command, she's always eager to please and put on a show. She's the sweetest (and lick-iest) in the mornings, constantly working to wedge herself between us and dishing out a heavy dose of (mostly) unwanted licks. She even puts her head on the pillow like a human. Can't imagine a world without a dog in the family but now that we have Aspen, we can't imagine a life without her!

Isla - (Pet Parent: Kyla)
Meet Isla! (We call her Isla Lou... don't ask me why...) She is a 3 year old weimaraner. She loves walks in the park, chasing the squirrels in our back yard, and sleeping belly up. She will inhale just about any food your put in front of her but some of her favorites include popcorn, any kind of meat, and peanut butter. Random facts about Isla: - She has what is called 'markings of the hound' which is why she is not the typical silver color. - She LOVES our 2 cats and cuddles with them. - She is very socially awkward and doesn't really like playing with other dogs at the dog park. She is also the worst fetcher on the planet, but we love her anyway. - She has destroyed and eaten approximately 18 TV remotes. (and counting.)

Paris - (Pet Parent: Paul)
Paris is a dapple mini-dachshund puppy that thinks she can chew her way through everything without consequence. And she can, because of how damn cute she is when she looks at you with her little blue eyes! She's so cute in fact, it prompted a lady working on PetSmart to give her an impromptu "Cutest Dog of the Day" award when we took her there to get dog treats.

Tater - (Pet Parent: Kayla)
Tater, our 7 year old this week "pretty boy" as the ladies in the park always tell us, is truly a man's best friend. He likes to take us for a walk so we get some exercise and be out with nature. He, like most dogs, is afraid of loud noises (thunder and fireworks) and he has to know you before he warms up to you. He's more a "leave me alone and I'll leave you alone" kind of dog. Spoiled to the max by his mommy and grandpa.

Zoe - (Pet Parent: Ayu)
My name is Zoe Gagnebin a.k.a ZoeBird, Bird, Ears, Bobbie? I'm two years old. My mom says that I'm a spoiled teenager. I'm a 100 % Pembroke Welsh corgi. I'm the youngest out of all of my sisters. I only got the big ears. I love eating hoomans food, but when I don't get any... my favorite kibbles (for now) is Merrick rabbit formula, oh with chunky duck bites topper. When I was young, I thought I wanted to be a bunny chaser. Turned out, I want to be a squirrel chaser instead. I love when mommy made me pupcakes or when she takes me to Starbucks and get me a puppucino. So good. I love every hoomans. I just want to give them kisses all the time. I'm not on Twitter, but I will still follow you. Or you can follow me in Instagram at @zoebirdthecorgi. With slobbery love, Zoebird

Disco and Rave - (Pet Parent: Amanda)
Disco and Rave are best buds who were both adopted from the Kansas Humane Society. Disco enjoys barking at absolutely nothing and giving mass amounts of kisses. Rave enjoys lounging on the couch and climbing trees to nab a few squirrels.

Brix - (Pet Parent: Aaron)
This is Brix, a 21lb Pomeranian. He is 3 years old. He enjoys attempting to play with cats, snacking on crayons and adventuring in large bushes.

Pinky - (Pet Parent: Mike)
Breezy pups. Featuring Pinky the Teacup Poodle. Recently deceased. Loved everyone except the young pup pictured with her. Kinda a cranky granny.

Ryleigh - (Pet Parent: Brandon and Jennifer)
A gifted ball fetcher, Ryleigh is 100% Jack Russell. If she had hands, she'd build a pillow/blanket fort on the deck and listen to the sprinkler all day. She's highly food motivated and wants to be friends with everyone.

Choppy - (Pet Parent: Brandon and Jennifer)
Choppy, aka Chop. Formally Sir Charles Chop Suey. Likes: Doing tricks, sniffing things, relaxing on the couch and Grandma. Dislikes: His little T-Rex arms, loud noises, insects and lightning. Chop naps like a cat and snuggles like that bear who peddles the fabric softener.

Bella and Sophia - (Pet Parent: Julie M.)
We have a pair of comedians who think the bird bath was specifically designed for Great Danes. Happy National Dog Day to Bella and Sophia!

Tank - (Pet Parent: Julie R.)
This is Tank. He is a 12 year old long haired dachshund. His favorite thing to do is sit on his back legs and beg for a treat. He is also great at digging up the moles and pocket gophers in our yard. Now if I can just get him to stop bringing them home after he catches them.

Barley - (Pet Parent: April)
My name is Barley. I'm a 14 month old Chion. I like to chase bugs and play catch. I may only be 8lbs, but I think I'm an 80lb guard dog. I have mommy & daddy wrapped around my little paw and I'm spoiled rotten!

Batman - (Pet Parent: Doni)
This is Batman. He's an almost-two-year-old Boston Terror... I mean, Terrier. His hobbies include tearing up styrofoam QuikTrip cups (that are full of tea), destroying Christmas presents under the tree, stealing dryer sheets, and chasing frisbees. (Then he takes the frisbees inside and hides them under our beds.) He's also super cuddly and sweet, is master of the "guilty face", and our family loves him.

Toby and Jack - (Pet Parent: Chris)
This is Toby (underneath) and Jack (on top). Toby is a four year old miniature schnauzer who owns the house and is king of the back yard. Jack is a two year old terrier mix who has ENDLESS amounts of energy and loves being Toby's best friend!

Bruce
This photo was taken at a commercial spoof shoot two years ago. Fortunately, this lost little puppy found his way back to the office before he had to be rescued from any wolves!
