Fun ideas to stay entertained at home

We have all had to spend a lot of time at home over the past year, and it can be easy to feel the boredom creep up.
Do you feel like you have run out of things to do? You’re not alone! A lot of people are at the same point. However, there is no need to worry, as we have got you covered with some fresh ideas to keep you entertained over this period.
Let’s take a look at some of the different activities you can enjoy to keep yourself entertained over this period:
Enjoy some outdoor fun
Getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors is something to consider during this period! While we may not be able to go to big parties or visit tourist attractions, one thing we can do is explore the amazing nature that is around us.
You may be surprised by some of the birds that enter your garden! Why not familiarize yourself with them and start learning about the different animals that pay your home a visit?
You could even revamp your garden. Why not plant some new flowers and trees? If you’re not someone who usually spends a lot of time in the garden, now is the time to begin!
You can also enjoy some outdoor games as a family. This is a great way to have some fun with those you love. Some of the best outdoor games available are as follows:
Cornhole
There is only one place to begin when it comes to outdoor games, and this is with cornhole. Cornhole is a traditional game that is adored in the United States. We’re sure you have heard of Cornhole before, but we will explain it just in case you haven’t!
Also referred to as bean bag toss or sack toss, this is a lawn game that involves participants taking turns to throw a 16-ounce bag of corn kernels at a board with a hole in the far end. If you get a bag onto the board, you will score one point. However, the main aim is to get the bag into the hole, which will score three points.
Play will carry on until an individual or team reaches the score of 21. It is a simple game, but aren’t simple games often the most fun? You won’t get bored of this. What’s more, you can find the perfect cornhole board for your backyard from Cornhole Worldwide - or build your own!
Croquet
Another option is croquet. Croquet is actually played on an international scale at a professional level. But don’t worry; we’re not expecting you to take the game so seriously. There have been many garden versions of this game created, which are a lot of fun. So, how do you play croquet in your garden? This is a game played by two sides. Each side has its own set of balls, which are different colors to distinguish each team. There are then six hoops placed around your garden, which you will need to get the balls inside. The aim of the game is to get the balls around your garden by hitting them with a mallet. Every time you make a hoop in the correct order and direction, you will score a point. The winning team is the one that is the first to score the six hoop points.
Beer Pong
Okay, so we only recommend playing Beer Pong if everyone is over the age of 21-years-old! Of course, you can still play the game with non-alcoholic drinks if you want to involve your children. However, that kind of defeats the purpose, right? So, if you are looking for some adult fun, Beer Pong is a game well worth considering. For those who have never played Beer Pong before, the game involves filling cups with beer, with an equal number of cups on either side. You then have two players at opposite ends, trying to throw a ping pong ball into the cup. If they succeed, the other player needs to drink the beer in the cup! The winner is the first person to get the opponent to drink all of their beer. If there are more than two of you, you can simply play in teams.
What to do on a rainy day
Of course, we cannot guarantee that the sun is always going to be shining, so you need to make sure you have some great ideas for those rainy days. It is a good idea to get yourself some puzzle books that you can use to keep busy when the weather is not so kind. From crosswords to sudoku puzzles, there are so many different types of puzzles you can choose from, so you are bound to find a good selection of puzzle books that appeal to your taste. You can even subscribe to monthly crossword and sudoku puzzles from publishers like PennyDell Puzzles.
Another option is to do some arts and crafts. Again, there are many different options here, so you should be able to find something that appeals to you. You could paint a picture, for example, or you could make your own coasters. All you need to do is a quick search online and there are thousands of different DIY and art projects that you can get involved in. You could create something for use within your home. After all, there is something nice about having items in your property that you have created yourself, isn’t there?
So there you have it: an insight into some of the different ways you can bring fun to your home this year. We have all been spending plenty of time in our homes over the past year because of the pandemic, and it is easy to get bored. However, with the suggestions that we have provided above, we hope that you will be able to keep the boredom at bay for many years to come!
