Best Places to Play Sand Volleyball in Wichita
Call it sand volleyball or beach volleyball, it's one of the best ways to have a blast, get a great workout…or recreate THAT scene from "Top Gun." (You know the one we're talking about.) And even though we're miles from the coast, there are incredible places to play sand volleyball in Wichita!
The Sandbox at Derby (Coming Soon!)
At The Sandbox at Derby, opening in Summer 2022, you don't just play volleyball on the sand. You play volleyball on the softest imaginable custom-blended sand! Combined with the 65,000 square foot seasonal dome that covers the courts in fall and winter, it's like playing volleyball on the beach all year round.
There are eight outdoor beach volleyball courts that are available to book for open play, plus pickleball courts, cornhole, yard games and more. The venue supplies all the balls and equipment, so you can just show up ready to play.
If all the serving and spiking builds up your appetite, you can enjoy good eats at The Sandbox's full-service restaurant and bar, featuring an open-air rooftop patio. The Sandbox at Derby also has three full bars and offers drink service during play—score!
Beach volleyball leagues are already forming at The Sandbox, so you'll want to grab your spot ASAP. Leagues run in 8-week sessions. The Sandbox at Derby hosts 6-10 games per night, allowing up to 400 teams to play per session.
Wichita Sports Forum
Wichita Sports Forum has four indoor and three outdoor sand volleyball courts for year-round play. You can rent the sand volleyball courts at an hourly rate for your volleyball team or for casual play with friends. Wichita Sports Forum also offers adult sand volleyball leagues.
Wichita Park & Recreation
Wichita Park & Rec offers sand volleyball courts at a few area parks—two at McAdams Park and one at South Linwood Park that are first-come-first-serve, and 20 at Watson Park that can be reserved for a fee. Watson Park is a hub for Wichita sand volleyball, hosting several leagues and tournaments throughout the year. You can get all the details here.
