Critical Springtime Lawn and Tree Care
It’s finally warming up outside, and that means it’s time to start thinking about lawn care. Did you know that timing is critical when it comes to lawn care? According to Casey Woodburn of Longhofer Lawn and Tree Care, the steps you take right now can ensure that you lawn is well-maintained all season long.
Stop Weeds Before They Start
It all begins with a first application, which should take place between mid-March and mid-to-late-April. This lawn treatment is one of the most important of the year, as it offers pre-emergent protection from crabgrass and foxtail for the whole season. It also includes post-emergent defense against dandelions and both grassy and broadleaf weeds, as well as spring fertilization to help your lawn green up sooner. If you hope to control the weeds on your lawn, Woodburn says that the time to do so is now.
Treat Tree Shrub Species Directly
Another crucial element in lawn care is the proper treatment of trees and shrubs. Different species of trees and shrubs will require different types of treatments that may need to be applied at different times throughout the year. Longhofer Lawn and Tree care addresses this with a unique integrated pest management system, during which, specialists will come out and evaluate the species of trees on the property, necessary treatments, and when those treatments should be applied. These treatments target insects and disease, and should be applied as needed. During the initial estimate, Longhofer will offer clients the option to pay for all treatments (even ones that will occur later in the year) up front to receive a 10 percent discount on services.
