Dinosaurs Invade Century II and other Weekend Activities

Electric Guitar Symposium at Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum, May 6-8

Guitar enthusiasts, musicians, and Wichitans alike will enjoy the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum's Electric Guitar Symposium. Running in conjuction with it's guitar exhibit, the symposium will feature a variety of nationally recognized panelists, such as Walter Carter, the owner of Carter's Vintage Guitar in Nashville, TN.; Deke Dickerson, Author, collector and guitarist; H.P. Newquist, Executive Director of the NAtional Guitar Museum; and many more.
The event will be held at the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical museum from May 6 through the 8, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Admission for a half day session is $25, and $20 for members. A full pymposium package includes all sessions and lunch Saturday & Sunday and is priced at $150, and $125 for members.
Creature Camp Out at the Sedgwick County Zoo, May 6

At the Sedgwick County Zoo's Creature Camp Out, guests get the unique opportunity to find out what goes on after hours. Creature Camp Outs include a dinner, an animal encounter, a guided tour, a bedtime snack and several other activities! Have you ever wondered what animals stay awake when everyone else goes to sleep? At the Creature Camp Out, you can find out! The fun doesn't stop at bedtime! In the morning, guests can enjoy a continental breakfast and a tram ride around the zoo! The theme this year is Green and Growing, so come ready to learn about all kinds of plants!
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6 and runs until 9:30 a.m. the following morning. Be prepared to stay for the entire event, and be sure to bring your own sleeping bags and tents. All participants must be at least five years of age, and those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Creature Camp Outs are $30 per person for members and $35 per person for nonmembers. Event t-shirts will be available for $10 each. Space is limited, so register now.
Air Capital Bacon and Beer Fest at Hartman Arena, May 7

If you love bacon and beer, you've probably devoted more time than you would like to admit dreaming up great ways to bring the two together. This weekend, all those dreams will come true at the Air Capital Bacon and Beef Fest! At 4 p.m. on Saturday, head to Hartman Arena for a delicious afternoon.
This event highlights more than 100 craft beers and the participation of over 15 of the top restaurants in the area, bringing as many bacon and beer options to the table as possible. Air Capital Bacon and Beer Fest will feature Hormel's Black Label Bacon. Who has the best bacon? Cast your vote to decide, as vendors will compete for the V peoples' choice "Best Bacon" award. You can also cast your vote for the "Best Brewery" award, so come prepared to taste. Live your dream and compete in a Hormel Bacon eating contest for a chance to win a year's supply of bacon!
This event is for ages 21+, and general admission is priced at $30 in advance, and $35 on the day of the event. A VIP experience is available for $60, and it includes early entry, unlimited snacks and samples, a Bloody Mary and BLT bar and more.
Chippendales at the Orpheum, May 7

It's girl's night out at the Orpheum on Saturday, May 7, as Chippendales brings the Let's Misbehave tour to Wichita! At 9 p.m., the infamour all-male dance troupe will begin their performance, and you won't want to miss it!
Chippendales is recognized as the first-ever all-male dance troupe, and has since opened a club in New York in addition to the original Los Angeles club which was established in 1979. Now the men tour across the world, and have performed for over 100 million women in more than 100 countries in the last 35 years. They have torn off over 1.2 million shirts, worn 56,000 bowties and have been photographed upwards of 70 million times.

57th Annual Art and Book Fair at Wichita Art Museum, May 7-8

This Saturday, the Wichita Art Museum's Art Garden will be transformed into a festive community gathering. The Friends of the Wichita Art Museum will host the free Art and Book Fair on museum grounds for the first time! By relocating the fair, it has room to expand and become an event for the whole family!
Highlighting both national and regional artists,the fair will feature hundreds of books, and booths will be set up in the parking area. Various entertainment will be provided throughout the day, and the Muse Cafe will offer special menu in addition to their traditional Mother’s Day brunch. on Sunday.
In addition, you'll be able to find some of Wichita's best Food Trucks outside the museum during the event. The fair will be held in the S. Jim and Darla Farha Great Hall, and will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are priced at $22 for children ages 2-12, $18 for adults, $15 for seniors ages 65 and over and free for children under two.
