What is bail?
- Bail is the temporary release of a defendant awaiting trial secured with a money payment or property which is given as garuntee that a person released from custody will return at an appointed court time. If the accused person does not appear at trial, the money from bail can be seized and forfeited by the court. A authorized Wichita bondsman monitors the entire process until the defendants appearance in court.
What is a Bail Recovery Agent?
- Bail Recovery Agents are also known as bounty hunters. If a defendant does not show up to court, the bounty hunter or bondsman tries to track down the accused person. Once tracked down, they ensure the accused person appears on their court dates or they will be returned to jail by the bondsman. If the defendant does not show up to court, the Bail Bond company risks losing the money it put down to release the individual from jail. Bail Recovery Agents are legally allowed to track down their “clients” or "skips" in order to ensure they appear in court. In some cases the bounty hunter appointed by the Bondsman has more flexibilty than the actual police.
What is a Cosigner?
- In most cases a defendant will need a cosigner for a defendant to post a bond. A qualified cosigner would be a responsible adult over the age of 21. The cosigner must have a full time job and be willing to work with the bondsman to guarantee the defendants appearance in court on the appointed date. Cosigners are usually close friends, co-workers or relatives of the defendant.
- Once the cosigner has been designated for the bond, he/she will need to supply a current check stub and proof of address. When all the requested documents have been gathered you are ready to contact a bondsman at Air Capital Bail Bonds. (316) 755-5142
