Today on its Facebook page, the Wichita River Festival released the lineup of headliners and supporting acts for the 2016 event. This year, Riverfest will run fron June 3 through June 11, and the Kennedy Plaza and RedGuard Stage will feature big name artists. Highlighting well-known American alternative Rock group The Violent Femmes, best known for the 1983 hit “Blister in the Sun;” current pop star Elle King, known for “Ex’s and Oh’s” released in 2015; and even Grammy award winning hip hop groups The Roots, known for “You Got Me” and Naughty By Nature, best known for O.P.P., the festival has set the stage to support its "Party in ICT" theme.
The Violent Femmes will take the stage on June 4, Naughty By Nature is scheduled to perform on June 8, Elle King is slated for June 9, and The Roots, who serve as the house band for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” will perform on Kennedy Plaza on Jun. 11. These performances, as well as the 20th annual Gospelfest (June 6) and the Indie Showcase (June 10) will be held on Kennedy Plaza.
Supporting events at Wichita’s 2016 Riverfest include Reel Big Fish, The Meat Puppets, A Thousand Horses, Brothers Osborne, IIII Flag, Fishbone, The Suffers, Radkey, Kawehi, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Tasha Cobbs, Zacardi Cortez, Moreland & Arbuckle, Sinbad with Rudy Love Sr., Hugh Masterson, William Clark Green, Andy Frasco & the U.N., Brave Combo, Divorce Corpse, The Candy Lords, DJ Carbon, Kill Vargas, Ophil, Big Red Horse, A Squared and Gary Mule Deer.
