Starting on Monday, Sept. 19, Pawnee will be closed at interstate 135 between Southeast Boulevard and Hillside for an improvement project regarding the street’s storm drains. The project is expected to take approximately two months to complete.
In the meantime, through traffic will be required to detour to Harry at Southeast Boulevard and Hillside. The street will remain open to local traffic on both sides of the interstate, though Eastbound Pawnee will not have access to I-35, and Westbound Pawnee will have access only to northbound Interstate 135. Access to area businesses will be maintained.
This project is part of a larger 6.6 million project that will expand Pawnee to a five-lane roadway, reconstruct an existing sanitary sewer access structure and provide storm drain improvements. The project, in its entirety, is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2017.
