The 2015 Derby BBQ Festival promises fun for all ages Saturday, Sep. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will be held in High Park, 2801 James St. in Derby, KS.
For $5 you can sample competition-quality pulled pork in the People’s Choice Contest. You also can stop by the Derby Noon Lions Club Beverage & Beer Den for all your beverage needs.
There will also be more BBQ contests to enjoy. The KCBS Pro BBQ Cook-Off, The TenderCare Big Green Egg Backyard BBQ Cook-Off, The Fidelity Bank Anything Bacon Contest and the Chick-fil-A Kids Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest are open to the public.
The festival will also feature lots of family entertainment. There will be pig and dog races, magician Shawn Reida, a Meet-a-Princess booth, face painting, clowns, bean bag toss, rock climbing wall, a coloring station and more for the kiddos.
There will also be a performance by country artist Lucas Maddy and The Kansas Cartel, a photo booth, car show and numerous vendors onsite to provide a wide variety of eats and entertainment. The festival benefits the Airmen & Family Readiness Center at McConnell Air Force Base.
