Anticipation ran high during this week’s Monday Night Football, and it wasn’t because of the scoreboard. During halftime, the new trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" aired in the 2:35 slot. It was released online the same day.
As few details regarding the plot have been released, trailers for the newest "Star Wars" film have seen great success, this one with 14.6 million views on YouTube since Monday. The most recent teaser for the film, released in April boasts 65.3 million views.
The action-packed trailer introduces two new characters, such as Finn; a Stormtrooper who faces a moral dilemma; played by John Boyega, Kylo Ren; boasting intentions to pick up where Darth Vader left off; as portrayed by Adam Driver, and Rey; of whom viewers know little played by Daisy Ridley.
Ticket sales for "The Force Awakens" opened on Monday as well, garnering a tremendous response from fans.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" comes to theatres this December.
