Hunger Games fans have been holding their breath since last November, when Mockingjay part I was released. The 2014 film covered the first half of Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins. The decision to split the final book into two films received mixed reviews from fans, but now the wait is almost over. The final film will debut in theatres on Friday, Nov. 20.
The films made it to the big screen in 2012, when “The Hunger Games” hit theatres. The series has been well-received, and it has the trophies to prove it. The first three Hunger Games films have won a total of 65 awards, including Emmy’s, Grammy’s Teen’s Choice, People’s Choice, MTV and more. The first film in the series took home 34 of those awards and grossed $407,999,255 in the box office, beat only by 2013’s Catching Fire, the highest grossing film in the series coming in at $424,645,577. By these standards, the fourth and final Hunger Games film has big shoes to fill, and after the cliffhanger Hunger Games fans were left with in 2014, it just might live up to its reputation.
Mockingjay Part 2 will be featured in 2D in Wichita’s world class IMAX theatre at the 21st street Warren. Tickets for Mockingjay Part 2 are currently on sale.
