The Grandview Terrace Apartments located near Wichita State University have been purchased by area developers Mark Farha and Brock Oaks. The men plan to invest approximately $1 million in property renovation.
The unit is located at 1736 N. Hillside and features 31 units. Each unit will receive upgrades that will make it more technology friendly. Among these upgrades are the addition of USB ports to the outlets to allow for more options when plugging electronic devices in, and the installation of smart thermostats.
The building will also be equipped with newly added facilities for laundry and fitness. Existing windows are to be replaced, and the property will be gated to ensure security.
The renovation, which will take roughly six months to complete, is set to begin in January.
Farha Construction will serve as the project’s general contractor, and El Dorado Inc. as the architect.
Oaks and Farha have been pursuing the property since 2007, according to the Wichita Business Journal, and this building renovation is just one part of a larger plan to re develop the area surrounding Wichita State.
The Varsity Villa and Varsity Place properties were purchased in October by the same developers, who have plans to renovate them in the future. Between these buildings, there are 110 units of both single-family residences and duplexes.
Previously, Oaks served on a similar project in which he helped transform the apartments at 1760 N. Gentry into a modern complex, now called Seventeen60.
