Douglas Design District consists of locally owned stores, shops, cafes, bakeries, and more that are all focused on home design. It is located on Douglas Avenue between Washington and Oliver. These fun, locally owned shops are very unique and bring something exciting to Wichita.
Douglas Design District is home to over 32 merchants that are scattered along Douglas from College Hill to downtown. The architecture and variety of structural design along Douglas makes shopping there not only about what’s inside the shops.
New businesses are constantly joining the District to become part of the growing, trendy area. From home fashions to dining and entertainment, Douglas Design District has it all.
Douglas Design District is not only home to a number of amazing vendors, but the District also hosts many great events that really bring the community together. They are a big part of 2nd Saturday which encourages local shopping. You buy a $5 re-usable 2nd Saturday tote and receive discounts at any of the Douglas Design District merchants as well as merchants in Delano, Old Town, and Downtown as well. First and Final Friday are also big events that the District is involved in. Shops in the District features artwork from different artists each month on Final Friday so they can showcase their artwork to the people of Wichita. First Friday is a supplement to Final Friday that focuses on local musicians and enthusiasts.
The next event, the Holiday Pop-Up Party, is happening THIS Saturday, December 1st at 2pm. This event celebrates the holidays with musicians from all around the region, pop-up vendors, and tasty treats. The Trunk Show and Open House is at Karma Konnections.
