This weekend marks the 33rd annual toy run rally in Wichita since first beginning in 1980. Every year, thousands of motorcyclists gather in Historic Delano to raise money and collect donations for The Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, and the Kansas Food Bank.
The 2012 Toy Run will have many vendors, live music, the official drop off tent, a chili feed, t-shirts and buttons, best Christmas decorated bike contest, prizes, and more. The Wichita community has been a great help in making the Wichita Toy Run one of the largest benefactors in the area.
The Wichita Toy Run is a time to gather together with the people of the community, friends, and family to give back during the holiday season. The Wichita community has become really involved with this event throughout the years and many local families line the streets to watch the parade and participate in the festivities.
The 2012 Wichita Toy Run will take place this Sunday, November 4th at 11am in Delano. They Toy Run is different this year because there won't actually be a ride. The number of participants has greatly increased, so having more of a celebration seemed like a better way to give back. The Toy Run is in memory of Holly Potelle, a longtime coordinator of the event, who passed earlier this year. Remember to bring unwrapped toys or cash donations to the official drop off tent.
