It's time to kick back, relax and enjoy a Wichita weekend. Check out these local events!

The Coffee Man at the Orpheum, September 30

Join the Coffee Man, Sasa Sestic, on a journey from the birthplace of coffee in Ethiopia all the way to Seattle, Washington. Seattle is the home of the specialty coffee movement, and of the World Barista Championship.

Follow Sasa on his journey to find the perfect cup of coffee in this intensely personal documentary. The screening will begin at 7 p.m. at the Orpheum on Friday, September 30. Admission is priced at $5.

A Midsummer Night's Dream at Butler Community College, September 29 - October 1

A Midsummer Night's Dream at B

Indulge in some Shakespeare this weekend, as Butler Community College offers a performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Directed by Samuel Sparks, the show will run from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. each night through October 1. 

The show will be held in the  Butler Community College Fine Arts building on the El Dorado campus. Tickets are priced at $5 per person, and can be purchased by phone at 316-322-3262 or online

 The 20th annual Woofstock celebration of peace, love and pets is here! On October 1, come on out to Sedgwick County Park for the Kansas Humane Society's grooviest fundraiser of the year! 

The event runs from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to collect donations and win prizes. It's going to be totally far out, so don't miss it!

Charity Poker Run at Post 256 and Alpha 1 Drop Zone, October 1

Charity Poker Run at Post 256

If you're looking for a great way to give back, The Charity Poker Run at Alpha 1 Drop Zone is perfect for you! The event will feature a live auction presented by McCurdy Auction House and delicious burgers and hotdogs cooked by the Wichita Wagonmasters!

Proceeds go to Passageways Living Center and Cloud 9. The event begins at 9 a.m.  at the American Legion Post 256 at 4301 W. Pawnee, and will end at Alpha 1 Drop Zone at 443 N. Maize.  Registration fee for the poker run is $25. Auction is free.

The Wichita Grand Opera presents Puccini's "La Bohème;"  on October first. Catch the passionate, timeless, and unforgettable story at Century II  beginning at 7 p.m.

Staking its claim as the world’s most popular opera, "La Bohème" tells a tale of love at first sight among young artists in Paris. 

Tickets range in price from $37 to $85. 

Fall Parade of Homes, October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The Wichita Area Builder's Association kicks off the 2016 Fall Parade of Homes on Saturday, October 1! The Parade will feature homes in Wichita and surrounding communities like Goddard, Maize, Andover, Derby and more. Each home on the Parade is a new construction, and participating homes are eligible to win ribbons for design! Which one will take the Pick of the Parade? Come find out.

The event runs from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through October 16. Parade of Homes magazines are available at local grocery stores.

Mountain Sprout at Central Standard Brewing, October 1

After playing to a poppin' crowd in July, Mountain Sprout returns for another performance at Central Standard Brewing! The group comes all the way from Eureka Springs to bring their sound to CSB!

Grab a drink, take a seat and enjoy the live performance! The music starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, and the show is free! 

 Central Standard Brewing is located at 156 S. Greenwood St. 

Wichita Downtown Living Tours, October 2

Have you ever wondered what it's like to live in a downtown loft? Which ones are the biggest? Which ones are the trendiest? This Sunday offers the opportunity to find answers to all these questions and more.
Downtown Wichita Living is offering free, self-guided tours of several of the area's lofts and flats from 1-5 p.m.  A shuttle will be available for pickup and drop off at participating properties, which you can find on a map here.

ICT Burger Battle in Downtown, October 1

Are you ready, Wichita? It's time for the ICT Burger Battle, and you get to help choose the winner! Sample burgers from Wichita's favorite restaurants, vote for your favorite and have a great time! The event also features a car show and a live performance from Moreland and Arbuckle!

The event will take place at the Spaghetti Works building on the corner of Douglas and St. Francis. At 5 p.m., VIP activities begin (this is reserved for those over the age of 21), at 6 p.m. the event begins, and at 7 p.m. Moreland and Arbuckle take the stage!
