This year’s Riverfest drew big names and big crowds. After months and months of hard work put forth by the team at Wichita Festivals, the Party in ICT came together smoothly, and it was a huge hit.
“The feeling of satisfaction is, I hope, shared by all our volunteers and partners. The festival is a 45-year institution that is a labor of love for so many who help make it great – whether that’s by volunteering or supporting it in other ways. It is my sincere wish that all who collaborate to give this gift to the community feel like their contributions and efforts paid off in spades!” said Mary Beth Jarvis, President and CEO of Wichita Festivals.
Riverfest 2016 saw some impressive numbers, too, in terms of attendance, with over 35,000 attending the Spirit Aerosystems Rockin’ on the River concert with the Roots. And that’s just one of the 117 events held during the nine day festival! Thousands of funnel cakes were eaten, and thousands of hours were worked by volunteers. According to Jarvis, this kind of success wouldn’t be possible without those volunteers, or without a supportive community.
“We’ve felt such great support from the community – sponsors growing with us, community organizations stepping up to partner with us on new events, and the general public expressing excitement about the festival.” Jarvis said.
