Wichita Thunder vs. Tulsa Oilers

Wichita Thunder vs.

Join the Wichita Thunder Hockey team on Friday, Jan. 8 as they face off against the Tulsa Oilers at Intrust Bank Arena. Jan. 8 is also beer fest, and the first-ever Jersey Cooler bag giveaway to the first 1,000 fans in the door. The giveaway is presented by RA Rudd. The game begins at 7 p.m., and ticket prices range from $11 to $34. Tickets are available in person at Select A Seat locations and the Intrust Bank Arena box office, by phone at 316.264.GOAL, or online.

Group rates, party packages for birthday celebrations and corporate suites are also available for events. Call for additional information.

 


Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex Grand Opening Celebration

Bliss Bouldering and Climbing

Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex invites you to celebrate it's grand opening all weekend long! Located at 11114 E 28th Street N., Bliss is Kansas's largest indoor rock climbing gym. The facility offers climbing, challenges and prizes, as well as clinics hosted by Jon Cardwell for just $100 and much more.

The Grand Opening Celebration boasts events all weekend long. On Friday, guests can come to the ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m., participate in a pull up contest at 4 p.m., a milk crate challenge at 5 p.m., enjoy live music by a guest band at 9 p.m. and more.

On Saturday, a business fair will be held at 9 a.m., a sports clinic at 1 p.m., milk crate challenges at 2 p.m., dyno gym at 4:15 p.m., and an after hours party from 9-11 p.m.

On Sunday the doors open for the first regular business day.

 Pajama Party

On Jan. 8 from 6:30-8:00 p.m., head out to the zoo for a pajama party! This 90-minute program is for newborns  up to kindergarteners. Bring the kids to the zoo in their pajamas and prepare for a wild time! Each Program features a discussion and a zoo experience, as well as a craft, a bedtime story and a snack.  A fee of $17 for members, or $19 for nonmembers will cover the cost for a family of 5. Additional group members are $5 each.Space is limited, so preregister now to reserve your spot.

Zooper Kids

Zooper Kids is a 2-hour program intended for children in grades 1–5. including interactive learning, a Zoo walk, story time and a craft, you won't want to miss out! Admission is just  $8 per child for members, or $10 per child for nonmembers. On Saturday, Jan. 9, head to the zoo for the Zooper Kids program running from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. This session will focus on how different types of animals stay warm during the cold winter months, and how zookeepers can help them.

Wedding Season is almost upon us, and if you've still got some planning to do for your big day, come out to the Wichita Bridal Expo. Enjoy one-stop planning for your event at the Wichita Bridal Expo at Century II Performing Arts and Convention Center. Operating from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Jan. 9-10, the Bridal Expo provides guests with a free expo directory upon arrival. Featuring over 250 wedding professional shows, sales and displays, this year's show offers something for every bride. Admission to this event is $12- $15. This event also features special giveaways and prizes, so don't miss out!


Academy Awards

On Saturday, the Wichita Public Library hosts the Academy Awards Retrospective. From 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. guests can enjoy Academy Awards: Saturday Morning Cartoons. This session features popular favorites like Looney Tunes, Disney and even a few Tom & Jerry shorts.

From 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Academy Awards: Afternoon Documentaries will be showing. This session highlights favorite documentaries from the Academy Awards in years past. This session includes 3-4 short films running 40 minutes or less each.

Admission is free for both sessions, so head to the Wichita Public Library at 223 S. Main and enjoy!
