In case you didn’t know, the Wichita Thunder is Wichita Kansas’ professional hockey team. It was established in 1992 and has been a Wichita favorite ever since. The team draws a lot of people out to Intrust Bank Arena, their home venue that seats 15,000 people. Wichita is having a great season, they are currently in fourth place in the CHL standings, and they show no signs of letting up.
I haven’t been to a Thunder game since they moved to Intrust Bank Arena and I have to admit, it was pretty awesome. The intensity is at such a high level and everyone in the building is filled with adrenaline which makes for a great hockey atmosphere. Thunder fans are of the highest caliber and they bring energy to the game that makes it unforgettable.
Honestly, I was skeptical about going. I didn’t know how I was going to like it, but I was thoroughly entertained. Not only by the game itself, but by everything else that went on. The announcer did a great job getting the crowd involved and keeping the game upbeat. T-dog was also another fan favorite. The kids were always excited when T-dog flew by on his four-wheeler during the intermission periods. I can confidently say that I will go to another Thunder game.
Tickets to Wichita Thunder Hockey games can be purchased at Select-a-Seat locations, Intrust Bank Arena, or online. There are great opportunities for birthday parties and corporate suites are available for events.
See some pictures that I took when I attended the Thunder game, although they don’t do it justice. Get out to one of the home games and check it out for yourself! I think you’ll be impressed. To learn more about the Wichita Thunder, click here.
