It’s almost that time….spring break time.
If you’re still in school, or you have kids on spring, it may seem like going on the typical “spring break” vacation is out of the question, but that doesn’t mean you have to be stuck inside or even stuck in Wichita! There are many nearby cities that can provide a lot of entertainment for a long weekend or a couple of days during spring break!
I’m partial to Kansas City if you are going to stick to Kansas (or Missouri). Kansas City has a wide variety of restaurants, nightlife, museums, shopping and much more!
360kc.com is like 360wichita.com but it is a directory of Kansas City. On the site you can find a variety of hotels from downtown Kansas City to the Plaza to the airport, so you will sure to be able to stay near wherever you decide to go! There are also some “stay and play” type hotels that have water resorts inside. CoCo Key Water Resort at Holiday Inn KC is a comfortable, convenient hotel with and amazing water park inside for the kids to enjoy (let’s be real, the adults too). If you want something more on the luxurious side, the Westin is a chic hotel that isn’t far from the great parts of Kansas City.
If you’re taking the whole family on a trip to Kansas City, you could stop by Worlds of Fun, an amusement park with over 175 acres of rides and games!
If you want more of a relaxing trip, plan on visiting the Plaza for fine dining and excellent shopping. The Legends Outlets in Kansas City is a fairly new outdoor shopping center with a number of stores, restaurants and a movie theater! The Sprint Center hosts some great concerts and the Power & Light District is the place to go out in Kansas City.
So, instead of feeling stuck at home on spring break this year, take a trip. Even if it’s only to KC, it’s a nice change from the normal scene and there are a lot of fun things to do!
