Community Housing Services, Inc. NeighborWorks® Homeownership Center (CHS) is a leader in building strong communities and improving quality of life by mobilizing community resources to increase home ownership, improve housing conditions and prevent foreclosure.

CHS specializes in home ownership education. Our certified experts provide free budget, credit, foreclosure prevention, and pre- and post-home purchase counseling. CHS offers qualified home owners mortgages, mortgages with rehab, refinancing, home improvement loans and debt consolidation loans in addition to forgivable down payment or closing cost assistance.

CHS helps first-time buyers purchase homes; helps existing home owners rehabilitate their homes; builds new homes; and buys, repairs and sells properties in Wichita.

In 1994, Wichita and Sedgwick County leaders agreed that a partnership among local residents, financial institutions, businesses and local government could stop decline, promote reinvestment and restore pride and confidence in urban neighborhoods. With that vision, CHS, a non-profit organization in Wichita/Sedgwick County, was launched in November 1995. CHS was the first NeighborWorks® Home Ownership Center in Kansas; there are only 101 such centers nationwide.
