Our Mission: Big Dogs - Huge Paws Rescue is a 501c3, non-profit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating unwanted giant breed dogs that have been mistreated, neglected, abused and/or abandoned. We believe giant breeds to be loyal and loving, yet very expensive and sometimes overwhelming due to their massive size and need for constant human attention.
We have been serving an 8 state area with a volunteer base of over 175 people, and we recently expanded our territory to include the Southern Region of the United States. We have successfully placed over 225 dogs in their forever homes. Each adoption involves an application process, reference checks, and a home visit. The dog is then transported from his or her foster home to their forever home, either a local trip or a multi-person relay cross country. We have adopted dogs to loving forever homes as far away as CA, WA, OH and even Canada! All dogs are spayed, neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, dewormed, and microchipped routinely prior to adoption and we spend an average of $450 per dog. Dozens of our Gentle Giants have also been treated successfully for heartworm, at a cost of $300 on average, and we have also performed a variety of major medical procedures including TPLO repair, total hip replacements, FHO procedures and more, ranging from $1,600.00 to upwards of $5,000.00 in cost. It is because of the incredible care these BIG dogs receive from our generous business partners and our amazing financial supporters, that these special souls can look forward to a brighter future!
